foxorama08 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Hi folks, The husband (stafio) and I are planning a cross-Canada roadtrip for the summer of 2012, and we'll be looking for some really good caches to direct our route! Gimme the best you've got! We're starting in Toronto, working our way up to the Territories, then down to Vancouver and back to the East Coast. Any traveling tips will also be welcome. Thanks everyone! Quote
ky.m.guy Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 My favourite Canadian cache (actually my favourite all-time cache) is Gliders Paradise in Golden, BC. It's at the top of a mountain but you can drive all but the last 20m (and it's not rough hiking from there). Check it out if you're in the area! You'll probably need at least an hour as it's a 13km drive (if I recall correctly) up the switchbacks to the top. http://coord.info/GC1VJX1 Quote
4CeasonS Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I don't think any geocaching trip to Nova Scotia would be complete without a visit to Canada's First Geocache: http://coord.info/GCBBA Many people choose this cache to be a milestone cache. +Flintstone5611 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Chippewa Falls - Halfway There is an awesome EC that has a traditional close by. It is at the halfway point for the trans canada highway! And there is a great view. Quote
entogeek Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 If you're going up the Dempster to Inuvik, then be sure to visit The End of the Road. Quote
Mr Kaswa Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) One second falls west of Revelstoke, BC on Highway 1. It seems to be having a small cache moving around problem right now but by next summer it should probably be good Edited July 27, 2011 by Mr Kaswa Quote

ToonAl Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Down the Canadian Gorge Not sure if you are taking time to go to Niagara Falls but if you are this is a good one. Very few tourists at least when I was there at 7 am But I must have visited Niagara Falls a thousand times and never knew this was here. You are right down close to some pretty powerful water. Quote
baax Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 You should check out GREAT WHITE NORTH GEOTOUR FINAL. There's a cache in the capital of each province with the final in Ottawa. Only three people have found it in almost 5 years. Although, since you'll be ending your trip in the east coast you may not be able to get the final but it's something to think about. Quote
guiderchachi Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 If you are coming East, you really should check out the Atlantic Geocaching Association's 5 Official caches. There is one in each of the four Atlantic provinces with an extra one in Nova Scotia. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=ff104f4e-5a1a-4619-b6a0-5cd5c3538ef8 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=8d1b2fa5-661e-449f-a21d-ce73872f0f5f http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=02944a3b-b1ce-4de8-aca4-f63693186fdc http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=813f94de-57f6-45d4-8edf-be260922cdd5 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=5cd5f804-449e-46e5-bd32-b9885506c714 No trip across Canada would be complete without a trip to Newfoundland (yes, I am biased!) so you could check out Cape Spear the most Easterly Point in North America. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCWJZ3 Have fun! +CanadianRockies Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Along the Trans-Canada Highway between Banff and Calgary is Cold Cache. It's a fairly easy puzzle and a reasonably easy hike up to a very interesting spot. Be sure to bring a flashlight. Quote
Viajero Perdido Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I'll second Cold Cache and raise you Yam Boulders which is nearby. Plenty of favorite points between the two. A bit of terrain is involved, but both are totally worth it. Quote
Real gone Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 (edited) If you happen to come into Kelowna, BC... I'd say Rattlesnake Island GC30Z3G in Okanagan Lake is well worth the trip. Get a hold of a boat, and go get it. Really easy to find, and a really interesting story behind the "ruins" there. Edited August 8, 2011 by Real gone Quote
foxorama08 Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 Thanks folks! Really looking forward to visiting each of these caches! Quote
