Hi folks,

The husband (stafio) and I are planning a cross-Canada roadtrip for the summer of 2012, and we'll be looking for some really good caches to direct our route! Gimme the best you've got!

We're starting in Toronto, working our way up to the Territories, then down to Vancouver and back to the East Coast. Any traveling tips will also be welcome.

Thanks everyone!

My favourite Canadian cache (actually my favourite all-time cache) is Gliders Paradise in Golden, BC. It's at the top of a mountain but you can drive all but the last 20m (and it's not rough hiking from there).

Check it out if you're in the area! You'll probably need at least an hour as it's a 13km drive (if I recall correctly) up the switchbacks to the top. http://coord.info/GC1VJX1

I don't think any geocaching trip to Nova Scotia would be complete without a visit to Canada's First Geocache: http://coord.info/GCBBA Many people choose this cache to be a milestone cache.

Down the Canadian Gorge

Not sure if you are taking time to go to Niagara Falls but if you are this is a good one. Very few tourists at least when I was there at 7 am :) But I must have visited Niagara Falls a thousand times and never knew this was here. You are right down close to some pretty powerful water.

You should check out GREAT WHITE NORTH GEOTOUR FINAL.

There's a cache in the capital of each province with the final in Ottawa. Only three people have found it in almost 5 years. Although, since you'll be ending your trip in the east coast you may not be able to get the final but it's something to think about.

If you are coming East, you really should check out the Atlantic Geocaching Association's 5 Official caches. There is one in each of the four Atlantic provinces with an extra one in Nova Scotia.

No trip across Canada would be complete without a trip to Newfoundland (yes, I am biased!) so you could check out Cape Spear the most Easterly Point in North America.

Have fun!

If you happen to come into Kelowna, BC... I'd say Rattlesnake Island GC30Z3G in Okanagan Lake is well worth the trip. Get a hold of a boat, and go get it. Really easy to find, and a really interesting story behind the "ruins" there.
