Mapsource Experts Needed

Hi;

I was outdoors last night with a group of friends and offered to download their tracklogs to Mapsource and then display them on Google Earth so that we could see where we'd been.

I had no problem transferring data from the the Garmin 76Cx's we had but ran into problems trying to download tracklogs from the Garmnin 450 member.

Mapsource can find the Garmin 450 and the transfer shows that the tracklog has been transferred - only it hasn't.

So the question is: how do I import a GPX file into an open GDB project?

A related question: how do I merge a GDB file into an open GDB project?

Thanks

Lin

Suppose you mean the 450 Oregon?

Try Basecamp it will find the data by itself, why do you want it in GDB

Merge more files, open mapsource or basecamp 2 times

*** Load (next data file, do NOT save changes if asked)

select the 1st data unit

Ctrl A

it should all be blue now

Ctrl C

Goto basecamp 2 or mapsource 2

Select the data tab

Ctrl V

data should be in the 2nd program now

goto basecamp 1 or mapsource 1

goto ***

When finished all dat should be in program 2 now and save it.

Rembemer, it's not always handy to have all data in 1 file.

I have a Dakota20, which I beleieve is very similar to the Oregon.

When the Oregon is connected it should go into Mass Storage Mode. If not I believe you can select it when connecting, or you may need to change the settings "spanner mode" rings a bell. This will allow the Oregon to appear as drives on you computer (usually one for the internal memory and another for the menmory card if you have one).

Have two instances of Mapsource running. In the first instance open the gdb file.

In the 2nd instance open each file in turn, select all the tracks & copy. Go back to the first instance of Mapsource and paste the tracks.

Repeat for each file until bored...

Awkward but it'll get you there. I haven't found a better way yet.
