+Pedagog Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I have just tried to update the co-ordinates of my cache as a visitor commented that they were little out, however they have not changed, and the update co-ordinates log that I filled in is not visible either. Is there any reason for this?, are they reviewed first? Thank you all in advance. Quote
+eusty Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) How did you change them? Just post a log on that cache and select 'update co-ordinates' and put them in the field below the log entry. Edit: There are two ways of doing it Edited July 20, 2011 by eusty Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Have YOU been out to re-check the coordinates to confirm they are 'out'? The finders GPS coordinates could be wrong! Quote

I have been out and they were a little bit out, and I do mean only a little bit out. I clicked edit listing, this said I had o edit co-ordinates via a log entry which I clicked on, filled in pro-forma clicked submit and it just went back to the screen before. Quote

First of all, what's "a little bit out"? If your co-ords are within 20ft, that's fine - well within the expected margins of possible inaccuracy for a recreational GPS. I don't see any change of co-ords log showing on your cache page. Try this: Go to Log your visit > Select 'Update co-ordinates' > Put a brief comment > Check the little box 'Add a co-ord to this log' > (Co-ord box opens) Put in the new co-ords > Submit log entry. If you are moving it less than .10 mile it should work. MrsB Quote

To be honest the Cache although a nano and hidden is very easy to work out where it is once you are in the immediate area. Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 For that small distance? Personally, I wouldn't bother changing the coordinates. (Unless you feel you really, really, really, have to!) Quote

+SeekerOfTheWay Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) If you leave the original coordinates and move the cache a little you can also consider leaving a hint. I did that on one of my caches that I moved. 15 feet off on a nano is pretty big to me, but I'm not good with nanos. Also, you cam note that coordinates are off but to use geosense. That will work if you placed it using geosense! Edited July 20, 2011 by SeekerOfTheWay Quote

Very true we have had a lot of cloud cover this week, so I may check on our next clear day, see what I get then. Quote
+Piggy53 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Personally I find 90% of caches posted with coords taken using an iPhone are out. Usually 'way' out and would advise any user of phone apps to seek help from a proper GPS user before posting their lovely new caches.. Quote
