historical growth statistics

It would be nice to see data (graphs) of the growth of geocaching, e.g., new caches per month since day 1, new users per month/day, new logs/day growth, etc.

I hate stats. I really hate stats.

 

But I do like to see simple graphics showing info on things I'm interested in (the spreadsheet nerd gene has reared it's ugly head again).

 

For the purpose of talking up the glory of Geocaching to potential newbies, I'd like to be able to quote a few simple, and possibly interesting, facts and figures.

 

Like the 150 countries thing. I've never been much on world geography, and didn't realise there were even 150+ countries on the planet . Is there a list on the site somewhere? What about numbers of geocachers and their geocaches?

An old thread about this (with a couple outdated links) can be found here. Maybe TravisL can reshed some light for us. Or... ClayJar can get around to doing his analysis that he promised.

There are 136 countries in the drop-down menu on the search page. I just compiled a list of the 135 countries I found that have, or used to have caches. Archived caches are counted as well.
