+Redfist Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Other than it being very hot and humid in Maryland... I really enjoyed the find! Have any others of you had good or bad experiences with Wherigos? Quote
+popokiiti Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Never done one...yet. Have to look into it, and see if I'm bright enough to figure it out!! Quote
+Redfist Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Never done one...yet. Have to look into it, and see if I'm bright enough to figure it out!! The one I did made me end up doing a much larger scale 'GPS dance'. You know what the track looks like when you've been circling a cache for a while? Well... I did something similar wandering around a virtual maze laid on top of a soccer field trying to find my way 'out'. It was a lot of fun and luckily no-one was there to look at me strangely. Quote
+BaylorGrad Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I'm still trying to figure out HOW to do one. Got one about a mile away, but haven't figured out how it works yet. Quote
+Roman! Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I've only done 1 and it was a lot of fun. Had to run back and forth across a suspension bridge 9 times carrying virtual people and caches from one side to the other. Quote
Clan Riffster Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Of all the physical cache types available, I'd have to go with Wherigos as my favorite. I own 5 active Wherigo caches, and I have one more in the works. When they first came out, it was kind of a bummer, because I thought that fairly expensive special equipment was needed to hunt them. After poking about the Wherigo forums, I learned that this is not the case. An ancient bluetooth enabled Pocket PC, married to an ancient bluetooth GPS receiver, (both available on EBay for about $40 total), and it's game on. With the popularity of smart phones, and the free apps to play the cartridges, the special equipment concerns are even less valid. Quote
sabrefan7 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I have tried to do them with the wereigo app but I just cant get it to work. I wont buy a compatible GPSr just to do them Quote
+dorqie Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Does anyone know of any list of compatible gprs out of curiosity? Quote
GOF and Bacall Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Try looking in the Wherigo forum. Oh, and IBTM. Quote

+CanDMan47 Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 There aren't any in my home town, but about an hour drive there are a couple. I tried two with the Wherigo app, but got frustrated, or rather my daughter got frustrated and I decided to quit it until later. That was last summer, and I haven't been back to try it. Neither of them were what I was expecting, and not being real familiar with the area, a little difficult. I do hope to finish them soon. Quote
+GeoGeeBee Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Add me to the "I love Wherigo" list. The only one in my normal caching area is the one I own. I get better logs on that one than any of my other caches. The only one I've done was on a trip to the Atlanta area. It was a blast. Someday I'll have the time to drive over to Greensboro and do a bunch of Ranger Fox's Wherigo caches. Quote
