Us 4 and Jess
I have a book full of Geocoins sitting collecting dust, so I took my self off to Fleabay to see if/what Geocoins sell. The first coin I came across was this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Garmin-BIG-BEN-Geocoin-/250846028367?pt=UK_SportingGoods_HikingEquipment_RL&hash=item3a6796a24f Were they not given out free by Blacks or some other outdoor kind of shop? I hope I can sell some of my coins for those prices, I have 50 odd coins and I was going to ask £4/5 per coin.....Fleabay here I come Mandy [] Edited July 4, 2011 by Us 4 and Jess Quote Link to comment
dibbler69
Yes they were. I have around 40 coins and but didnt manage to get any of the blacks set. I wouldn't pay that much for 1!! I was offered £35 for my Dark side of the cache coin. Quote Link to comment
reddeeps
wow I was lucky and got a complete set of garmin coins. I managed via a non caching forum to get people to get them for me, so I had a complete set. I even got 2 spares which I sent out and one got muggled very quickly, so the others are still sat unactivated. Question is I really need a 4 bike towbar upright bike rack for the car, if I sold them and they made that sort of money I could have the bike rack..... I really wanted to send them travelling as was intended, but they get muggled so quickly I have just left them in the draw, which isnt really the point of the coins Quote Link to comment
Us 4 and Jess
Shh don't say you have collected them and kept them.....you will get slated .....I may have one or two Garmin ones too I have 6 unregistered 1st UK Mega Event coins, 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 black (they are pretty rare so I was told) I have already had offers from over the puddle for all of those before I have even advertised them I have also had an offer for one coin that is registered to our name, but adopting the coin into your own teams name is as simple as one click of the mouse so people are even willing to buy those too, I thought the registered ones might be difficult to sell. +Us 4 and Jess
Do none trackable coins sell does anyone know? I have one of these, which I was reliably informed when I received it was one of only two in the UK http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=155737 M Quote Link to comment
mpilchfamily
Some none trackable sell but mostly people are after unactivated trackable coins. What i've seen is coins that have recently become sold out show up on ebay for almost double the initial price. Older popular coins can go for as much as 3 or 4 times what there initial price was. But for most coins they only sell for $2 or $3 more then there initial sell price. Quote Link to comment
Us 4 and Jess
Well I am going to try putting 2 or 3 on Fleabay to see how they go... The Yanks must be s*** hot on geocoins, I have already had an offer on the Geocaching Secret Agent coin and I only posted a few minutes ago!!!...not enough dollars though, the exchange rate is naff Quote Link to comment

Us 4 and Jess
Well I can only try Ian they are just sitting here collecting dust, or I can just chuck them into caches for some theiving swine to nick. I thought I might get a little bit especially as a free coin is going for 22 quid!! M :0) Quote Link to comment

The Klever Boys
The main reason why those Garmin coins go for silly money is that they were limited in that they were only available in the UK. They are quite rare elsewhere, although I know of one in New Zealand as I sent one to Kiwi Gary! The price is usually ramped up by collectors from the USA, etc. Non-trackables are not so much in demand mainly as you can't track 'em (obviously), no icon to collect and you are not allowed to advertise them for sale here on the forums. Some of them (usually the 'mystery' coins) go for megabucks, but that's quite a specialised thing. As you state, the UK exchange rate is also not helping matters either! Russ Quote Link to comment
mollyjak
What a price!!!!!! I sent out three to friends who hadn't been able to get any. I won my Oregon on a coin which I sent out called Lucky but haven't heard from it for quite a while. I 'sold' the set I had to a caching friend who made a donation to the fund raising of mega Wales. Can't believe it went for that amount!!! Quote Link to comment

Can't believe it went for that amount!!! I know what you mean! We managed to get our hands on some, all of which went off into the world either activated by us or put unactivated into caches for others to enjoy. Sounds like we could have had a short break on the proceeds if we'd sold the lot! Quote Link to comment
wrighty
A few weeks ago a Garmin coin,i think it was a Stonhenge one sold for about £70. We sent out seven of the coins and they have all gone awol. Quote Link to comment
ivanidea
I was lucky to get a set of Garmin coins, and played the game by activating and releasing them Only one of them is still moving, the other four are being held by cachers and not being moved, despite some polite emails Quote Link to comment
MeerRescue
We 'played the game', collected a full set and, as was the idea, set them forth. No wonder they slowly disappeared one by one Quote Link to comment
MartyBartfast
We 'played the game', collected a full set and, as was the idea, set them forth. No wonder they slowly disappeared one by one me too, but TBH I never expected them to last too long, but I drilled a hole in every on so at least the scumbags wont get much for them if they try to sell 'em. +Fianccetto
I was just about getting into geocoins when these were just about becoming impossible to get through the shops. I'm so glad I didn't unwittingly get any off fleaBay then and will never bid for them now (not that I can afford to at those prices!) I suppose it's a sign there is money being spent on coins again. There seemed to be a lot of people selling and not as many buying for a while. Quote Link to comment

uktim
As you state, the UK exchange rate is also not helping matters either! It's the other way round exchange rates are helping exports but making imports expensive at present. Quote Link to comment
