Hopefully you'll notice (and appreciate) a more seamless integration between the forums and the Geocaching.com site. Logging in while visiting the forums will now redirect you to where you were last.

Since this change has been made I've been getting an error message when I first connect to the forums from the geocaching.com front page. When I'm already logged in to geocaching.com and hit the 'discuss geocaching' link I get transferred to the forums main page without being logged in to the forums. When I hit 'log in' on the forums page I get an error saying "Redirection limit for this URL exceeded. Unable to load the requested page." If I return to a geocaching.com page and hit the 'discuss geocaching' link again I get transferred to the forums and logged in to the forums.

Anybody understand what's going on here?

I'm not lost!

I just don't know where I am.

This appears to be a known Mozilla / Netscape 7 issue when I do a Google search. Are you using either of these browsers?

I'm using NS7. Plus I have a web filter and firewall running. The firewall shouldn't be a problem, but the web filter filters the header info. Specific to this problem is the fact that it removes the referring page data.

It's not really a big problem, just an annoyance.

The referrer shouldn't be a problem, and since I found references to this problem from others I suspect it doesn't have anything to do with your filtering or firewall software.

The integration works by redirecting the browser between both the Geocaching.com site and the Forums passing login info and security IDs and other stuff. It would appear that the Mozilla engine has some redirect threshold built in; presumably to prevent an inadvertent visit to a porn site from redirecting your browser to 50 pop-up ad generators on other porn sites. But that's just a wild guess. icon_smile.gif

Perhaps in Netscape's configuration there's some place where you can adjust that number. Increasing it by just 1 or 2 should prevent that message from occurring with our forums. Let me know if you discover a work-around so we can post it here for others who may experience a similar problem.
