nicktheguitar Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Hi, I'm about to set my first cache but would like it to be part of a series which I'll be able to set over the coming weeks. Am I able to set one now and then add to the series as I set them? Or do I have to save all the data and submit it all in one go? Thanks for your help. as you can tell, as you can tell I'm new to all this but am very excited about watching all the notifications rolling in once they're set. -Nick Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 You can set one, and add more later. Nice to warn cachers it will be part of a series. Some will rush out for each one, to try for FTF. Others will wait for the series to be set, or for a few of them to be set, before hunting. Quote
nicktheguitar Posted June 10, 2011 Author Posted June 10, 2011 wow - super quick reply, thanks!! As the series will end up being spread across the country I don't think too many people will be rushing to get the whole series, but there'll be a few to easily find in London so it might be fun to see if someone tries to be FTF for all those. I'll go set the first right now!! Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Not so quick! London. In the Met Police area? You must read the GAGB guidelines... here regarding London caches. Also, well worth reading the UK/GAGB specific guidelines. The UK Reviewers do take them into account, along with Groundspeaks guidelines. Quote
nicktheguitar Posted June 10, 2011 Author Posted June 10, 2011 ah interesting stuff. I'd have never thought to check for that. The London cache's aren't in any of those areas or in any parks so I think I'm good to go. There's other caches around the same areas (although not too close) as well. Quote
+d+n.s Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I have a series that is in progress. It will take forever too. They are building a new hike/bike trail from downtown all the way to our state park. They have conveniently divided the trail into sections. Over the ext few years I plan on putting a cache in each section as it's finished. Quote
+Kryten Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 If you're setting a series it's a good idea to create cache pages for all of them now, The pages need to have the intended location but the rest can be titivated later. Most importantly, remember to select the "not active"option and then contact your local reveiwer and ask them to check the locations. By doing this you give the reviewer advance notice of your intentions and they can warn you of reasons why that apparently lovely empty location you need isn't allowable. before you've invested too much time and effort. You might also look at the Groundspeak guidelines regarding vacation caches. Unless you do a lot of frequent traveling placing caches across the country your series isn't going to fly with the reviewer unless you can come up with a solid maintenance plan. +popokiiti Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Looks as if maintenance could be the reviewers' concern. If Essex is your home turf - not far from where I used to live - and if, like many, you work in London you may be good for a few. Placing around the country...love the idea, but you might want to consider placing with local cachers to share maintenance. Now, if you travel to those spots regularly for work (at least once a month) be sure to let your reviewer know. Good Luck, and say hi to Essex for me! Quote
