Looking for Source for 20oz Bottle Preforms

Recommended Posts

I did a Google search for PET Preforms and found a couple companies that manufacture them in a multitude of sizes. I have no idea if they sell to anyone outside the industry, whether they include caps or if they sell in small quantaties, but it never hurts to shoot off an email.

Either you could lead a consortium to buy a wholesale-size lot and break it up (which takes more prep work but less financial risk), or buy a big lot and resell them (which takes more up-front capital but less interpersonal hassle).

P.S. This strikes me as similar to the arrangement with the coins -- and you already know how you worked that one. :7)

Not an answer to your question, but something that might help you use the commonly available size: getting logs into and out of that long tube can be a hassle, I'm guessing that's part of your desire to find the smaller size.

lately I'm seeing those preforms with straws cut to length, and the log of the same size stapled to that straw. Makes getting the log in and out easy, rolling it easy.

Doubling the paper on at staples for more strength at the staple is usual. I assume that eventually the stapling may fail, but for quite a while it makes log handling easy.

If this isn't useful for you, it's still useful for somebody.

I love this for all manner of tube caches, and am using it now on those I own.

No, I am looking for the small ones to give me more flxibility in my hides.

For thelongs ones, I use strips of rite-in-rain paper, cut to ~3/4" wide and ~5" long, stapled at one end. The paper is rigid enough and long enough, that the logs slip right out.

The two sources just listed in the two above posts only have the 2-liter size.

The one on the left is the 2-liter style. I am looking for ones like the one on the right.

It appears all three of those have the same size neck, though. :(

Aren't you looking for the ones with a 38mm cap/opening? :)

I did find a source, but yeah...mass quantities only...like a full truckload.

However, 22 pallets of 10,800 containers WOULD make for the biggest powertrail ever!

Yes, they all have the same opening size (and use the same cap). I have no issues with that. Sometimes there's a litel opening that is not deep enough for the 2 liter preform, and 20oz woudl be perfect.

Also, for intermediate stages of a multi, the little ones are big enough to hold the coordinates for the next stage, but small enough to stash just about anywhere.

I have found them out in the wild, so I know there must be a source somewhere!

I poked around the site that Chris linked to, and they have something similar.

The smallest size holds one ounce of liquid, and certainly looks to be the same shape as the 20oz preform.

I guess they're charging the extra $$$ for the fancy cap?

You are correct about the size, and the extra cost for the fancy cap.

I work at a place that has them and may be able to get you a few does the color matter? Also they may have small defects in them (things like bubbles or what not)
