+prodrive Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Anybody seen this new Nokia TV commercial? The final part is a guy finding a cache and signing the log-book. I predict a new boom of Geocachers thanks to this commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DN0YJAPFl8 Quote
+Too Tall John Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 As a geocacher, I hardly knew that's what he was doing, so good catch, but I don't think it's going to draw a whole lot of people into caching. Quote

I agree, I think it depends on the context the viewer brings into it. Since it's been announced that all new Nokia phones will be Windows Phone 7 phones, I spent the time watching for evidence of that. People without that particular context probably noticed things I skipped. Quote
Pup Patrol Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 He's not necessarily a cacher. He could be signing a rock climber's log or a summit log. Quote
+SwineFlew Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 He's not necessarily a cacher. He could be signing a rock climber's log or a summit log. I did wonder about that. We got a number of caches around here that are really summit logs. Someone just add those to GC listing. Quote
+d+n.s Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 He's not necessarily a cacher. He could be signing a rock climber's log or a summit log. Look how handsome he is! definitely not a cacher... Quote
+Fianccetto Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Wish that phone had come out a couple of years ago. He was definitely caching, but bet he left a blank log! Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Driving fast, obviously a cacher on the hunt for FTF! Quote
knowschad Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 He's not necessarily a cacher. He could be signing a rock climber's log or a summit log. It sure looked like a cairn to me. If it were real, I would guess a summit log too. Of course, we all know that it was just made up by some marketers in a board meeting somewhere. Quote
+lamoracke Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I predict a new boon of people diving naked into the snow! Quote
+BaylorGrad Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I wouldn't have given that scene a second thought if I weren't a cacher. Even as a cacher, I probably wouldn't have noticed it. Quote
+geodarts Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Just another thing to do with your phone. I see it as a sign of how the game has entered the mainstream. Like when I was driving out to a cache a couple of weeks ago and heard an ad to encourage people to visit Lake Tahoe that mentioned the Geocaching Treasure Hunt. Quote
knowschad Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Come to think of it... we never DID see them typing out a log after the find, did we? Quote
+StarBrand Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I wouldn't have given that scene a second thought if I weren't a cacher. Even as a cacher, I probably wouldn't have noticed it. Me too. My first thought was that he was signing a summit register. Quote
7rxc Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Probably killed the battery with all the searching time! Doug 7rxc Quote
