+kleidner
I know how to convert a waypoint to an ID=nnnnnn for a cache page lookup(Elias explained it very well), but what in the world is the GUID=xxxx-yyy-wwww-eeee-fff format. Link to comment

It's simply a unique identifier string generated (I assume) at the time the cache is posted. Unlike the waypoint name <-> id number, there's is no conversion to the GUID. It just is. (GUID is generated by applying a formula using a unique computer identifer (often the ethernet identifier), the current time, a sequential index, and some other things to come up with a string that should be unique. That machine will never generate that GUID again, and no other machine will ever generate that same GUID. At least, that's the plan.) "Don't mess with a geocacher.
