+rocks911
I love my Garmin Oregon 450 but have to hold it in my hand to navigate in my truck and the wifes car. Could somebody recommend a good mount? I dont know that a windshield mount is what I want/need because the layout in my truck vs. the layout in my wifes car is so different. Is there a good alternative to the windshield, or is that really the way to go? Quote Link to comment

The hear the RAM mount is also very popular; however, I've never used one so I can't comment. Quote Link to comment
+CacheFreakTim
My uncle has a RAM mount. It is very sturdy but I felt it gets in the way (but I think that depends on what your car interior is like.) Personally I have a windshield mount for my Oregon. I like it because you can put it anywhere on the windshield you want and is super simple to take off. Quote Link to comment
+New Jersey TJ
I prefer Ram mounts. I have two with the goose neck suction cup windshield mount that work well. I also use a Ram cradle with a handlebar mount on my bike. http://www.ram-mount.com/Portals/0/Skins/NationalProducts/images/rap1056224ga31.jpg http://www.ram-mount.com/mount/garmin_oregon_mount.htm Quote Link to comment
+Walts Hunting
I would vote for ram-mount.com also. That are the best. Have one on my mountain bike and another that I move between cars as needed. Quote Link to comment

Just couldn't see paying Ram prices just to hold a gps to the windshield. http://cgi.ebay.com/Colorado-Oregon-300-400-450t-Garmin-Car-Suction-Mount-/130509127451?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e62f33f1b#ht_1161wt_1140 Quote Link to comment
+kwcahart
I ordered one also, we shall see. Hope it works okay. Quote Link to comment

I broke my Colorado suction cup mount, popped the clip off and attached it to my Nuvi suction cup. Depending how steep your windshield is, it's a little tight for the Colorado (when positioned for easy viewing the antenna hits the windshield and I have to tilt it down to remove the GPS) but should be fine for an Oregon/Dakota. +Maingray
RAM, quick in and out. A mount with the "official" clip takes far too long. Quote Link to comment
+sduck
I'm surprised no-one's suggested a beanbag mount. Perfect for multiple vehicle situations. I've had one for ages that I've used in numerous vehicles and it's worked perfectly in all of them. The only problem that I know of is getting one for the oregon - maybe it's easier now, but back when I was an early adopter I had to put one together by ordering 2 different parts. I ordered one of these: http://www.thegpsstore.com/Garmin-Automotive-Navigation-Kit-for-62OregonDakota-Series-P1933.aspx and one of these: http://www.thegpsstore.com/Garmin-bean-bag-mounting-base-ONLY-P421.aspx - kind of a pricey combo, but it does exactly what I want, and hides unobtrusively when not needed. Doesn't leave marks on the windshield. Quote Link to comment

+Alrpal
I also purchased an inexpensive one from ebay which shipped from Honk Kong I believe. Suction cup mount and pivots in 2 directions and work great and holds on through the heat of a Phoenix summer Quote Link to comment
DaK-mojave
Have the ram mount as well. The cheap garmin cracked on me. The ram won't. You articulate the ram many ways to get it fit right. Works perfect in the Jeep. Quote Link to comment
