+VanRuts Posted May 9, 2011 Share Posted May 9, 2011 Hello! Newbie here - I just started geocaching with my son and purchased an eXplorist GC (my first GPS). So far I have been pretty content with the convenience of paperless caching but was wondering how the battery life compares to other GPSs. I seem to be chowing through batteries like a kid eating candy on halloween. I ended up having to make an emergency pit stop at a gas station for new batteries over the weekend and burned half way through them with the GPS turned on for about 1.5 hrs. Granted they *were* cheap HD Alkaline but somehow I expected just a little better performance. Thanks in advance for your input! Quote Link to comment

+Wyomingguy Posted May 13, 2011 Share Posted May 13, 2011 I have a Magellan Explorist 610 that eats batteries. I tried a set of Energizer Lithium and didn't get an hours worth out of them. Energizer or Duracell alkaline batteries are only good for about two hours. Yeah, I'm frustrated. Quote Link to comment
