+BasicPoke Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 I will be visiting the east coast of the U.S. and am wondering if there are any other interesting markers I could look for there other than those in the NGS database. Maybe NOAA or something? Is there any other database I can look at? I suppose USGS maps might be a good resource, but possibly only for older markers. I am always looking for more benchmarks. Does anyone know how to locate U.S. Army Corps of Engineers markers? Any database from them? There are several of these here in Tulsa OK because there was a big movement here in the 80's to protect against flooding. The USACE built many stormwater detention areas in the city. Near some of them I have been able to find one of their disks. But at some of them I have found nothing. If the witness post gets knocked over and the disk covered with grass, you are out of luck. I have learned a lot here, thanks for all the expert input. Thanks BasicPoke Quote
TillaMurphs Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Hi BasicPoke, One option is the NOAA database of tidal bench marks: Linky to NOAA Tidal Bench Marks. Good luck to you! Quote

BasicPoke BasicPoke, The Corps of Engineers marks that do have PID's can found in Gsak by filtering the 'Placed By' column for 'USE'. Montana has 81, most of which are 1937 map control triangulation stations around Ft Peck Reservoir. kayakbird Quote
