Cachnutz
Hi Everyone Just wondering, if I get a premium membership using my Garmin gpsmap 62cx, will I be able to see things like cache descriptions and hints on my gps, rather than just being able to see cache name? Other than what is shown on the site, are there any other added benifits? Thanks in advance. Cachnutz Quote Link to comment
Maingray
Yes. Other benefits? Quote Link to comment
Spraginator
Well, As far as I know, there's no 62cx. What GPS do you have. Maybe you're referring to the 60cx? In that case, NO, all you can see is cache names. If you're referring to the 62 series (62, 62s, 62st), then yes, you can see descriptions, hints, etc. Quote Link to comment
Cachnutz
Sorry, it is the 60CX, not 62, that I have. Quote Link to comment
Entropy512
Sorry, it is the 60CX, not 62, that I have. In that case the primary benefit is the ability to mass-download large numbers of caches in one go using Pocket Queries. e.g. I have a PQ that gives me the 500 closest unfound caches to my home. +CacheFreakTim
By using a GSAK macro you can squeeze in 88 characters of the description. This takes a little work but may get you some of what you are looking for. This is a limmitation of the GPS...nothing to do with Groundspeak or a basic membership. Quote Link to comment
Walts Hunting
The 60 series (as previously mentioned) has extremely limited ability to load text in. Many have had success using GSAK and a macro that converts them to POI's which have a much greater ability to show that info. Quote Link to comment
Cachnutz
Thanks everyone I downloaded GSAK last night. Looks like it might take a bit to figure out..... but thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Quote Link to comment
