DaveD
The U.S. Census Bureau and the National Geodetic Survey will officially dedicate the 2010 national Center of Population commemorative marker in the town of Plato, Missouri at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 9. Anyone who is in the area is very welcome to attend. Quote Link to comment
wister6813
I was ready to attend even considering the cost of a tank of gas. But the job is sending me 3 hours in the opposite direction that day. Maybe I'll catch the the 2020 center of population marker dedication. Bob Quote Link to comment
+rogbarn
If I can justify to myself taking a vacation day, I will be there. I'm just not sure I can justify it. It will take my a bit under 3 hrs to get there. DaveD - will you be there? Quote Link to comment

kayakbird
BBCJ18. Is this a temporary or one of a kind PID? The data sheet retrieval link does not like the four letter, two digit format. kayakbird Quote Link to comment
DaveD
This is the new PID configuration that is being used for marks that are submitted for publication to the OPUS-Database (OPUS-DB). If you go to the NGS OPUS page -http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/OPUS/and select "Published Solutions" you can access the data that is being submitted by surveyors around the country. Quote Link to comment
ArtMan
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make the trip from St. Louis for the dedication yesterday, but those interested in this once-a-decade event may find the Census Bureau press kit of interest. ~ArtMan~ Quote Link to comment
+rogbarn
I couldn't make it either. It was the day before we left for Seattle so there were many things to do. Hopefully, I get down to view it this summer. Quote Link to comment
Wintertime
There are some additional photos of the event on Berntsen's Facebook page. Not surprisingly, they made the marker. Patty Quote Link to comment
