The U.S. Census Bureau and the National Geodetic Survey will officially dedicate the 2010 national Center of Population commemorative marker in the town of Plato, Missouri at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 9. Anyone who is in the area is very welcome to attend.

I was ready to attend even considering the cost of a tank of gas. But the job is sending me 3 hours in the opposite direction that day. Maybe I'll catch the the 2020 center of population marker dedication.

If I can justify to myself taking a vacation day, I will be there. I'm just not sure I can justify it. It will take my a bit under 3 hrs to get there. DaveD - will you be there?

This is the new PID configuration that is being used for marks that are submitted for publication to the OPUS-Database (OPUS-DB). If you go to the NGS OPUS page -http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/OPUS/and select "Published Solutions" you can access the data that is being submitted by surveyors around the country.

I couldn't make it either. It was the day before we left for Seattle so there were many things to do. Hopefully, I get down to view it this summer.
