How do you do that? (HTML)

to add a picture, have it sitting on your web space and insert it into the cache page by:

<img src="http://www.yourdomain.com/directory/file.jpg">

Replacing the URL and filename as appropriate.

Your ISP probably provides you with some web space. (Most do.)

To have an image show up in a web page, the image must be "out there on the internet" somewhere. It cannot just be on you computers disk drive.

If you do not have web space, or don't know how to get a picture into your web space, then HTML won't help.

The process of uploading photos to your web space is different for each ISP. You need to talk to them.

For your profile page at geocaching.com, they allow you to upload a picture to their web space.

You won't be able to store images for your cache pages on your profile page.

Actually, you can and I do. Any image you upload to your profile has a url and can be referenced from any of your cache pages. The format is http://img.Groundspeak.com/user/nnnnn_pppp.gif

where nnnnn is your userid and pppp is a number assigned to the picture file when you upload it.

I don't know, but I also see many cache pages where people have uploaded a pic to the cache page and then used that pic as a background or other image on the page. Would there be a difference in having an image on your profile vs. an image uploaded to the cache page itself?

If this is frowned upon I'd like to know. I haven't read anything about it in the guidelines and assumed that it wouldn't be a problem. If it is, I'll discontinue the practice.

Using a pic as a background (which I hate because of my bad eyesight) is a simple HTML command, regardless of the picture's location.

For cache logs, you can upload to geocaching.com's site, but for pictures embedded in the description, I just use my web space on my own domain.

I have no idea what Jeremy and TPTB think of using profile space for cache page photos, so I wouldn't sweat it until they talk to you. On the other hand, I wouldn't recommend it to others either.

Aren't I the helpful one? icon_wink.gif

Thanks for the help. I was able to place a picture on my cache site. It seems netzero does not have any space. Get what you pay for I guess. Anyway I had to upload the picture to the cache page and make the path to there. Its not the best way but I seem to have no other options.

Thanks all icon_smile.gif
