Frank Caching Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Hi everyone, I found this video while trolling the web for funny Geocaching experiences. What does everyone think, funny or offensive? I have to admit it made me laugh. Quote
+keehotee Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Hi everyone, I found this video while trolling the web for funny Geocaching experiences. What does everyone think, funny or offensive? I have to admit it made me laugh. Why would you think anybody would find that offensive? Quote
Mr.Yuck Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Why would you think anybody would find that offensive? Funny, I would imagine. Although we don't know why this person made this video. Or why someone dressed up as an undetermined animal for a 17 second video. Quote
Frank Caching Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 It's seemed to me like they're mocking Geocachers. Having said that though, I have no problem laughing at myself so I can see the humor in it. Quote
+speakers-corner Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Where is there a Geocacher in this clip ? All I see is an Easter bunny, and not even a pretty Easter bunny at that. Quote
+DanOCan Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Why would you think anybody would find that offensive? Because there is alsmost nothing you can say or do nowadays that won't offend somebody out there. Quote
+t4e Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Why would you think anybody would find that offensive? Because there is alsmost nothing you can say or do nowadays that won't offend somebody out there. no kidding eh? even if you don't say anything you can potentially offend someone Quote
+cimawr Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 It's mildly amusing. Funniest bit is when the critter runs away - the "actor" did a good job of copying the movement from the original video - I believe the film's intended as a parody of the infamous "Bigfoot" video. Quote
+briansnat Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Rabbits are cowards whose only response to danger is to flee, and their entire life is devoted sloth, lust and gluttony. I find the comparison to geocachers to be insensitive and offensive. Quote
+bflentje Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I am offended at being asked if I was offended by this video. Quote
+Ecylram Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 My vote is neither, but it sounds like a kid got a good laugh out of it. Quote
+Too Tall John Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 My vote is neither, but it sounds like a kid got a good laugh out of it.Another vote for "Neither." I have to admit, I find it amusing that someone thought this was funny enough to make the video. Quote
+A & J Tooling Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Now, if you heard the 'crack' of a rifle and the bunny keeled over, it'd be kinda' funny in a sick way. Someone will always be offended by something, no matter what the subject matter. If something like this video offends you, you need to take a vacation...or something. Quote
Mr.Yuck Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 It's not a Jawa? No, that's a mythical creature. I'm starting to lean towards a Jackalope though. Quote
+Mick-n-Nick Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Now, if you heard the 'crack' of a rifle and the bunny keeled over, it'd be kinda' funny in a sick way. Someone will always be offended by something, no matter what the subject matter. If something like this video offends you, you need to take a vacation...or something. Yeah...it definitely needed another ending...like after the bunny drops the shooter could say, "That's one more smiley--for me!" Edited April 5, 2011 by Mick-n-Nick Quote
+dfx Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I don't get it, so I don't know if I should find it funny or offensive. Quote
+kunarion Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I use an ultrasonic repellent to at least keep the Geocachers out of the forest behing my house. Otherwise, they'll be signing a cache log and replacing the container back where they found it. It's such a nuisance. Quote
+tozainamboku Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 ni Geocachers are more like this rabbit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V3NJi3WRKY Quote
+Mom-n-Andy Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I'm not offended as a geocacher, but I'm appalled that he would curse in front of the little kid you can hear giggling in the background. Or is that what parents do these days? Quote
+Team GPSaxophone Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Not just in the woods, he's at the movies, too. Quote
+docsigma Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 How could this be offensive? That's how I always dress when I go geocaching. It's how we're supposed to dress... right? Quote
+the4dirtydogs Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I didn't know Ewoks geocache. Great video................ Quote

+Chrysalides Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Because there is alsmost nothing you can say or do nowadays that won't offend somebody out there. I'm offended by your statement (ok, not really) As for the video, not offensive. More like "meh". After a couple of drinks, maybe mildly funny. Maybe if there's some context. I don't know, I ztill say if I'm going to dress up as the Easter Bunny, or in a Jackalope costume, or whatever that is, I'm going to get more than 17 seconds on You Tube. Quote
+cache_test_dummies Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I think I heard a faint buzzing sound. Is that fence electrified? Quote
TheCacheSeeker Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Rabbits are cowards whose only response to danger is to flee, and their entire life is devoted sloth, lust and gluttony. I find the comparison to geocachers to be insensitive and offensive. Well, fleeing from danger can be a wise thing to do. Racoons should learn that and not walk into danger and get hit by cars. Rabbits work pretty hard to build an underground nest too, and they all need to eat. Quote
+Castle Mischief Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 The profanity was offensive. Other than that, it was cute and silly. To the easily offended, yeah. Quote
+vds Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Hi everyone, I found this video while trolling the web for funny Geocaching experiences. What does everyone think, funny or offensive? I have to admit it made me laugh. Breathtakingly stupid and not even borderline amusing. Not offensive in the least. Quote

Not funny or offensive, but why not be honest about where the video came from? Quote
+TeamSeekAndWeShallFind Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Hi everyone, I found this video while trolling the web for funny Geocaching experiences. What does everyone think, funny or offensive? I have to admit it made me laugh. I didn't think it was funny or offensive. I thought it was, for lack of a better word, stupid ! It left me completely lacking any emotion except wonder....I wonder.... is that supposed to be a rabbit ? I'm sorry but THAT IS NOT what I look like when I get caught trying to hide behind a tree ! I am so much cooler than that guy ! Quote
+G & C Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I can't believe only one person mentioned Ewoks. That is clearly a geocaching Ewok! I think this video may be more offensive to Ewoks than to geocachers... Quote
+Crow-T-Robot Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I was offended when Frank said "Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?" Quote

Not funny or offensive, but why not be honest about where the video came from? BUSTED!! Of course everytime someone is busted, they insist they're not busted; and we have been mistaken in the past. Why can't they all be cut and dry like the Ringbone incident? Quote
Frank Caching Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 It's just a coincidence. It's also a coincidence that my name is Frank Caching! Quote
+Too Tall John Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Ok, first: Why's everyone speculating on what the thing in the video is supposed to be? It's obvious that it's some sort of mutant Teletubby. Second: It's just a coincidence. It's also a coincidence that my name is Frank Caching! Huh? Is it also a coincidence that I don't get either this post or the original video? Quote
Mr.Yuck Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 It's just a coincidence. It's also a coincidence that my name is Frank Caching! I don't know Francis. I just couldn't see myself, for example, searching for Geocaching videos on YouTube, and posting them to the Geocaching.com forums, before I even found my first Geocache. Ironically enough, I also suspect the fire hydrant micro on a busy street published in my area the other day is someone messing around with a sock puppet. I sure am smelling a lot of socks lately. But it could just be the wet, moldy damp ground around here after all the snow has finally melted. Quote

+kunarion Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Hi everyone, I found this video while trolling ...and then you felt like doing a little more trolling. The video could use a lot of work, before I'd invite friends and family to watch it. Their first reaction would certainly be "why do these videos need so much cussing?". It's a poorly produced, confusing video I'd have to explain to people (once I figure it out myself), when I'm not particulaly interested in promoting it or ever watching it again. Make one with a family of Geocachers in it, cut out the profanity. Keep it at 17 seconds with similar "classic bigfoot" mannerisms. And get a better comedy script writer. Then sit back and watch Geocachers recommend it, and get a few more views by people who will watch it because they like it. Not so much "Go check out this video, is it awful or just boring?" I love the fact that it doesn't have the typical YouTube soundtrack that makes me scramble for the mute button. Keep it that way. Edited April 6, 2011 by kunarion Quote
