Highest Elevation Placed Cache

Recommended Posts

The highest placed cache I've found is GCX9DZ -- around 11,500 feet. There's another one nearby I didn't do which is around 11,600 feet.

I do plan on doing this one --> GC16QMT, GC2BTQV and GC659F this summer (I live 15 min away from Pikes Peak!) and they are around 14000 feet.

Is there another cache that is higher in elevation?

There is one on the International Space Station (http://coord.info/GC1BE91), and one on top of Mt. Everest (http://coord.info/GC2BX63)

There are several as I recall from a thread several years ago. Mt Whitney in California has a few caches.

My highest one is about 10,800 feet and my lowest around 700 feet.

That is a cool stat that should be added to the stats page. May be difficult to do though.

My lowest is about 16m (52 feet) (http://coord.info/GC17J19), highest is 2785m (9137 feet) (http://coord.info/GC1EMB5).

Since you're in Colorado, you should check out this bookmark list: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=3aa50bdd-f2b0-4abf-900d-bc6d5f0e5642

It shows the highest 100 caches in the state, and is maintained by the owner of GC1ZAZG, a challenge cache called High in Colorado. A fair number of 14ers have caches on them, and there are many caches higher than 12,000 feet around our state.

Have fun!

Here is the highest elevation that I've ever scored a find...I think. Google Earth says it's at 11,800 feet.

This is probably my highest find. Somewhere around 11,500'.

I've been up Mt. Bierstadt and Pikes Peak, but there are no caches on Bierstadt (wilderness area) and there weren't any the last time I was up Pikes.

There are actually 4 caches up Pikes Peak -- GC659F (virtual), which was placed in 2002, GC16QMT placed in 2007, GC2BTQV which is newer, placed in 2010 and GC1HYJT (multi cache) placed in 2008.

I was there before 2007 and I don't do virtuals.
