The Deal with GPX

OK, being relatively new to the sport and just learning about GPX from a search, lemme see if I've got this straight:

 

GPs Xml pages.

Interchangable data format version of the same data that's on the webpages so that GPS waypoint software and programs like ExpertGPS can use the same file

easier on the server since no graphics need to be generated, linked to, or sent

open data standard

not supported by Groundspeak, yet, but Jeremy's working on it

 

Is that pretty much the gist of it?
