diggingest_dogg616
2 years, 3 months, 12 days Reason? I really don't know. I guess I just got busy with other things. My last one was September of 2009. I think around then I finally got notice that I passed my VTNE (veterinary technician national exam) and started joining organizations so I could become certified. (It's gonna get really boring, so if you stop reading then you'll spare yourself)I was also doing a lot of dog sitting which I finally had to cut back on because it was getting to the point that I felt overwhelmed and had no time to myself. The year after that (2010) I had my first vet tech conference, then a few months later I was collecting a lot of door prizes for the state veterinary conference that was coming to town. After that I had to turn in my continuing education credits to maintain my certification. I got started in kayaking (just sit on top). Then I had some weird skin issues that turned about to be severe dry skin, but there were a lot of doctor visits and a couple of specialists involved. I even switched my SSRI and went through pretty severe withdrawals from it (although most people have way worse then me, so I still consider myself lucky, even though it sucked enough I don't wanna go through it again). During withdrawal I got back to what is really my first love: bagpipes (don't worry, I won't go into to the slump that happened with that). So, I guess for about a year I've been working on my piping skills (that long? why am I not better?! ) In December, I got back into geocaching because a friend is joining Search & Rescue and was very concerned that he didn't know how to use a GPS. I figured if I could help him figure out how to punch in coordinates and then follow them, then he'd feel better (maybe I'm grossly underestimating what SAR does with their GPS but hey, it's a starting point). I found my first micro! After that, I decided I wanted to get back into geocaching It's like, everyone else has a lot of hobbies they indulge in and I don't. All I have to do is collect enough CE to keep my certification up. So... why not add some things?! :) Davequal, I'm sorry you were hospitalized for that long! My goodness! And giannelli55, I'm sorry your husband isn't sold on it yet. I love heavy metal But I also love geocaching Keep working at him! Finding 41 in 3 weeks is incredible! Way to be! Quote Link to comment
+Moose Mob
37 days... Stationed in AFghanistan and already found the 24 caches on FOB (I placed a few though) Quote Link to comment
+tristhana
3739 days. I found one on 2006 04 15 and did not think about it for a long time. When I tried to sign up years later, in 2016, I realized I already had an account! Quote Link to comment
+Goodgulf
Longest Slump 2448 consecutive days without a find from 11/27/2009 to 08/10/2016. Stopped after the kids lost interest and moved on to other stuff. Picked it up again last year to add some interest to my usual waking/hiking routine. Quote Link to comment
TahoeJoe
1779 days. After I got married and had kids I lost interest till the kids got older. Quote Link to comment
+J Grouchy
"Official" slump?: 16 consecutive days without a find from 04/01/2017 to 04/17/2017 Thing is, though...I joined 3/12/2010 but didn't find my first cache until 12/05/2012. I honestly don't remember signing up to begin with, but I guess that was something of a slump. Oddly enough...that works out to 999 days. Quote Link to comment
+styx
I just checked again..... 3262 day long slump - Quote Link to comment
+mcrow
So...what's the longest slump you've had between caching? From my gsak stats: Most consecutive days without a find: 2,698, from 03/25/2002 to 08/12/2009 And if I recall a similar thread correctly, I do NOT hold the record! lol....I'm at 2929. Got poison ivy really bad, had the skin literally peel off my legs. So, took a long time to recover and build up the guts to go out again. Edited May 26, 2017 by mcrow Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
In and outta one recently. String of bad luck (and age) injuries mostly. - I guess if one cache is grabbed on a day you can walk, it ends the "slump". My longest "official" seems to be 171 consecutive days without a find from 12/28/2013 to 06/17/2014. I believe that was the new knee, and another house move. Shorter breaks are simply due to having other, somewhat safer hobbies. Quote Link to comment
+NYPaddleCacher
My longest slump is 105 days and I've had quite a few slumps that lasted a few weeks or more. I don't have any particular reason (though the longest was in the middle of winter here) other than I just didn't feel like going out to find a cache. Quote Link to comment
+JL_HSTRE
Officially 224 days. I started in 2010 and ended up backlogging 3 Virtuals from a vacation in 2009. (I happened to have photos from the trip that provided the needed info.) Since I started caching my longest slump is a few weeks. I have never gone through an entire calendar month without finding at least one cache. However, I think "slump" as defined by geocaching statistics is a misnomer. I go through a geocaching slump every summer when local temps hit the 90s on a daily basis. Sure I end up going to an event or grabbing a PnG here and there, but realistically it's a 3-4 month period where I'm barely caching at all. Earlier this year I went through a slump by working 7 out of 8 consecutive Saturdays. I simply didn't have much free time to geocache. Edited May 31, 2017 by Joshism Quote Link to comment
+redsox_mark
My longest "slump" is only 26 days. And that occurred in my first 2 months of caching. I did some caching with friends, then there was a gap as I decided on a GPS and headed out on my own. Since then I doubt I've gone more than a week. My longest "streak" is 15 days. So I don't streak... but I cache regularly. Quote Link to comment
