can you help this Navy Geocoin get to Kuwait from Boston?

Hi -

 

Last weekend I found a travel bug that's been trying to get to Kuwait for several years. Even though its purpose in going there might be OBE, it has a noble cause and so it would still be nice to have it accomplish its goal.

 

I'm dreaming that someone knows a geocacher who is also in the military and near Boston who would be willing to move it towards its goal. Since dreams rarely pan out, my (more realistic?) hope is a bit more mundane, that someone with an idea of how to continue the coin's forward motion will step forward. Please contact me if you can assist and we can arrange to pass the coin off at a mutually convenient geocache.

 

My original plan was to put the geocoin in a cache near Charlestown Navy Yard. Then I thought - why not try to enlist help through the forum? Can't hurt!

 

Because the coin has been so long delayed already, I am just posting this as a try. The coin will go into a Boston area cache in early April unless something else happens first.

With all due respect, you'll notice that every single topic in this section of the forum is written with an English title and discussed in English. I would imagine that, logically, evidence of English writing is evidence of English reading. To make such a boldly outrageous comment such as this takes away much of the community spirit of geocaching, don't you think?

 

Most geocachers living in the Arabian Peninsula are expatriates from countries such as Great Britain, The United States, South Africa, Canada, and the European Union.

 

More importantly, there also many cachers in the region who are Arab and have superior command of the English language.

 

Caching may not yet be as popular in the Arabian Peninsula amongst Arabs but it's getting there, and if you read just two topics down you'll know of my initiative to start a geocaching-based TV show here (in Arabic), which I happen to be the producer/director of: an Arab-Canadian cacher who moved back here for work.

 

Your comment was unnecessary and highly judgmental. In fact if the coins sees its way from Boston to one of my caches in Toronto, I can see that it reaches me here in Dubai and I can send it off to Kuwait with the other cachers who frequently travel to the region.

 

I would hope an apology is not out of the question.

Would you be open to me mailing this to a person who could put it in a cache in Toronto? This would require that you know such a person and that the person would be willing. It feels a bit like cheating, but it would also feel great to help this little travel bug, with its mission based in love and duty, make tangible progress toward its goal.

Brilliant - I also love TB and coins reaching their objectives - and eys - all cachers here speak english - the only ones that don't tend to be visiting German tourists

 

So it was a very broad and uninformed commetn you made mpilchfamily - but the suggestion to post on the GC forum too is a good one.
