+jacklad
I'm not interested in getting a dedicated gps unit, but instead better my phone. Are Bluetooth gps any good? Been looking around and this seems to be a dead segment, all the units I've seen are 4 or 5 years old. So do you think this old tech will be a better gps then a modern phone? If anyone can recommend a good BT gps, I'd appreciate it. Quote Link to comment
NordicMan
I use a bluetooth GPS for my netbook that doesn't have GPS built in. Yeah it works great, and it'll probably improve satellite reception on your phone, depending on which phone you have. Your battery life will still suck though, having the bluetooth link activated. +jacklad
Found myself a cheap $25 BT GPS. At the price, I might as well give it a shot. Took a couple of short hikes and the tracking was rather well. Better than my phone. Maybe only because I have a Galaxy S and they are known to have have bad GPSes. Regardless, I'm satisfied for now. I would eventually like to purchase a dedicated GPS unit. But only if it has Bluetooth as well. Do such models exist? Quote Link to comment
+eusty
I bought myself a cheap second-hand BT GPS (£7 of ebay!). Although the GPS on my Galaxy S (froyo) isn't that bad, the BT GPS was a lot better. Like you I'm not sure what advantage a dedicated GPS unit would offer as I don't plan looking for caches in really remote places. Quote Link to comment
