Don_J
Although the trail is gone there are still a lot of caches out there I've driven the ET Hwy, and US6 to Tonapah three times before there was a power trail. It's just a really cool road to drive. I see that there a few more caches out there now. I've always been about getting to a cool destination/campground and picking up the caches was a bonus along the way. Suddenly, the caches themselves became the destination. I hope that I'm not straying too far off topic. I just want to stress that there is still plenty to do out there, to the people that have committed themselves. And to Mr. Yuck. I don't believe that any has directly answered your question. From what I understand, the RT66 trail has long stretches of the redundant type caching that was the ET trail, but I hear there are few surprises thrown in. The start of the trail is about two hours from Vegas. The end is about an 1.5 hours back, unless you stop to get the twenty or so caches along the way. If the idea is big numbers and endurance, this would be the best option. Quote Link to comment

Turtle3863
Hi Turtle! Good to see you here. Jeepstaff is already familiar w/ the ET Trail - LOL. We will be there after you leave. We'll arrive on 4/8 and are departing on 4/12. We'll hit the Rt 66 (which we had planned all along). I have been given some additional info on other trails, just haven't put the little push pins into Google Earth yet. Our flights are in & out of Vegas (obviously) and our hotel reservations are about 15 minutes off of the strip. (We've chosen to stay in a spa/resort rather than one of the casinos on the strip.) I think we're changing the scope of our trip to hit Rt 66, a couple other CA PTs and then we have some other wacky/goofy plans. Despite what some think, it's not been about the numbers more about challenging ourselves to cache for 24 hours. (We could still do that but I think we're going for the funny and unusual now.) Thanks for your suggestions See 'ya at Trail Mix soon! I am sure you will have a great time. That part of the country is an amazing place. Nothing like it around Kentucky and Indiana. If you get a chance drive up to the Alien Head and do it. The ride is amazing I almost wish that when I was there I would have stopped and smelled the roses a little more. Quote Link to comment

wigoweb
Florida - GRIM series near Ocala and some other locations. The ones near Ocala and Lake Okeechobee had little traffic and a wide grassy area to pull off the road. Did this one first few days in May, 2011 Delaware - C&D Canal Power Trail, about 56 caches on a dirt canal path that is completely drivable with an ordinary vehicle. It is lightly traveled so you could safely bike it. We did it last week. Power Lines Trail near Bear, DE. About 12 caches in a 2 to 3 mile stretch of woodlands. Several parking areas and easy to walk the whole trail. Did this one May 2011. A new 10 cache trail was just published also on the C&D canal, but no vehicles allowed. I think it is 1.2 miles one way. Hike or bike. Haven't done this one yet. It was published after we did the first set. Vermont Green Mt Forest near Landgrove, VT - About Forest Rd 10 series of caches in an 8 to 10 mile stretch of well-maintained dirt road. Drive or bike. We did this one last summer. It is on Mt. Tabor. Did this August 2010 Near Montpelier, VT - Sights to See - more than 50 caches if I recall correctly. Did this August 2010. Quote Link to comment

Mr. Wilson & a Mt. Goat
There are a couple series/trails near me.. VLH series (100 caches) http://coord.info/GC273CX VLH-N series (60 caches) http://coord.info/GC2GYJH An additional 60 to the original trail. Cache Shrink series (60 caches) http://coord.info/GC279BT Most only available walking. TCTC series (201 caches) http://coord.info/GC2J43P Basically no drive ups, all are hiking or biking. Still no FTF on some caches, yet they've been out since November. Quote Link to comment
WRASTRO
I noticed today that my next find will be number 3,000. I have no plans for the find that will become my 3,000th. My next find will be the one. I have not and will not do any power trails, nor will I do any cache machines. I don't have anything against either type of caching but neither one appeals to me. Keep on having fun caching and try not to take things so seriously. Time for the Survivor finale for this season. Now THAT is important! Edited May 16, 2011 by WRASTRO Quote Link to comment
Gus
Attention forum dwellers. There's rumor of increased activity on the ET Highway... one may want to keep an eye on the Geocaching map for that area in the coming months. Who knows what these alien life forms are capable of. That is all. Quote Link to comment
