Caches-found numbers fluctuate

When looking at a cache page, I see the number of caches found for each logging geocacher. I always assumed this to be the current number, rather than the number at the time they logged the cache. However, I notice that if I visit different cache pages, the numbers for various cachers change - including my own numbers. Refreshing does not seem to help. Is this a bug or do any of you have an explanation why I am experiencing this?

They only refresh when a new log is made. Saves on the server's processor time or something like that. It's a recent change Jeremy made and talked about it elsewhere. Check the announcements.

...or if the cache page is significantly changed.

 

Notice on the bottom of the cache page (above the logs) it states: Cache find counts are based on the last time the page generated.
