texas republic
I have used many gps apps on the iphone. I pretty much keep my Lowrance Endura in my pack for a back up. The best one I have found so far is "gpskit". It has everything I want. Mainly the ability to download map tiles and access them later offline. You can also create custom maps by using a server address to download maps from. They use to have a lite version out if any of you want to help troubleshoot. HOWEVER,I am having a lot of trouble downloading tiles with Google Sat and Terrain maps. The Sat map wont display at all when zoomed out, and will not longer download tiles while zoomed in. The terrain map displays fine, but wont download tiles while zoomed in either. All of the other maps dont seem to be doing this. I have the USGS address in my custom maps and it seems to work great. I am pretty certain that it has something to do with the website url I am using for the Sat and terrain. I have reinstalled gpskit and everything else I can think of. I have tried using ArcGIS map servers and many other server addresses for custom maps in the app, but I cant seem to get the format right.Any help here? The address for the USGS map link I download from is below along with the Sat address that I cant get working right. Anyone know about this sorta thing? USGS: This site works fine with the iphone app. http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/USA_Topo_Maps/MapServer/tile/#Z#/#Y#/#X# Google SAT map that doesnt download or load tiles correctly http://khm#SN#.google.com/kh/v=65&x=#X#&y=#Y#&z=#Z#&s=#GL# This is a wiki article that talks about it a lot, but I couldnt get a couple of the links to work. http://gc-livepedia.de/wiki/Map_servers#Google_Maps Quote Link to comment

+bigbadorange
Noticed the same thing on my ipad. Program will be the best of the bunch by far if they get that bug worked out. Where did you get the alternative map URL!?!?!?! Quote Link to comment
