iPhone accuracy?

I hear you on this. The I phone 4 uses (Assisted GPS) which means first there is a receiver antenna chip that receives at least 1 satellite signal. then there is a server that in lay terms triangulates and uses current cell tower locations and locks your position faster than a normal satellite only receiver.

I have noticed on my iphone 4 that I receive coordinates that can vary greatly depending on the surroundings. I find the Iphone 4 useful but I rely on my Oregon 450 that receives 12 satellite signals and I use the Iphone 4 as back up and sometimes in conjunction with the Oregon when I am on the hunt.

I am not a satellite expert but did read a little.
