Why do the maps hate me?

I don't spend hours gazing at the caching maps but I like to ponder over them from time to time and try to figure out where the next days caching is going to take me. The trouble is I find myself unable to view any of my finds or own caches if I leave a map unattended for more than 20 mins on the old maps and about 7 mins on the new maps. Refreshing the map or adjusting the view does nothing.

 

When this happens I have to close the browser tab reopen a new one go to geocaching.com, go to the search page, re-enter search area, adjust map to exact location and continue my head scratching.

 

Does anyone else suffer my anguish or is my case simply unique and my chrome browsers way of smiting me?

Sounds like a session timeout - a browser left idle and logged into many many sites will usually get logged out.

 

Interact with the page once in a while and it shouldn't happen.

It's been discussed before here in the forums.

 

I think you should be able to find a thread or two by using the search function.

 

There might be something in the feedback area, too...I can't remember.

But, AFAIK, there's no fix or work-around.

I am guessing that it is a session time out although a very short one. I am not logged out from the website just form the maps. All other member functions are still available to me. Quite frustrating tbh.

Workaround I use:

1. On the 'disconnected' map, click on a cache, bring up the cache's listing.

2. Click on "Geocaching.com Google Map" in this listing.

A bug introduced 3 updates ago and apparently a low priority item.
