Submitting a recovery

Some time ago, I tried my hand at submitting a recovery, UV5617 (FAWN).

It does not appear to be accepted but I may be in too much of a hurry, I would consider it an honor to have my efforts accepted by the NGS but at the same time, I would not want to push them as I'm sure they are quite busy taking care of their own product.

Would they contact me if my submission was lacking in some way, (I have no doubt it may be) or would they just throw it out?

This was my first attempt and as so, I don't have any answers.

I have also discovered a datasheet that has an obvious error in the description area, what, if anything, should I do with it?

In checking the NGS database this evening I see a November 20, 2010 GEOCAC "MARK NOT FOUND" report for FAWN by FSC. That's pretty recent. Are you perhaps FSC? If not then its too soon for another report unless you have different recovery results.

Yes, thats me, It did not occurr to me to retrieve the NGS datasheet, I thought, I know, thinking again, the datasheet would update through the geocaching page, of course it doesnt and would be redundent.

I will go hide now until I feel a little less stupid.

Your recovery is OK. Too bad there was not one piece of brass left to clarify the bearings from the station

to the RM's. I have found various errors between the Box Score, DESCRIPTION, and on the ground; and try to

remember to add remarks on the recovery form.

 

Don't know why the distance is that far off. In the recovery notes it is nice to indicate if your measurement is

on a slope or horizontal and if the tape is taut or draped.

 

And even on a NOT FOUND, where there is fairly positive evidence, I would add HH2 L/L to the recovery.

It isn't a matter of avoiding redundancy, it's just that the GC.com benchmark database hasn't been updated in many years.
