+BaylorGrad
With all the conversations about power trails, favorites, virtuals, and so on, I have noticed a decline in the threads that get us back to the basics of the game--the fact that we love Geocaching, and that it's a fun hobby. So, let's consider a couple hypothetical situations. 1) You have 1 day to live, and you plan on grabbing 3 Geocaches on that day. Which three Geocaches would you grab? (Consider that these should be relatively local--you should be able to grab all 3 within 24 hours.) 2) The same scenario as above, but you have 1 month to live, and plan on grabbing 3 caches. Which three Geocaches would you grab? (This should give you the chance to expand throughout the world; another way to ask this is, "If you could only grab three Geocaches in the rest of your life, which ones would you grab?) There--back to the basics. BaylorGrad Edited January 26, 2011 by BaylorGrad Quote Link to comment
+Coldgears
Powertrails, virtuals, are very much part of this game. They are entertaining, and fun just like every other geocache. Quote Link to comment
+Team GPSaxophone
This one would have to go on the "one month" list because it can't be done in a single day. Well, I suppose it's possible, but no one has done it so far. Edited January 26, 2011 by Team GPSaxophone Quote Link to comment
GOF and Bacall
I like caching. But if I had one day to live I wouldn't spend it geocaching. Quote Link to comment
+skullsoup432
I like caching. But if I had one day to live I wouldn't spend it geocaching. Amen. Then I would have to spend my last night on earth sleeping/dieing on the couch, 'cause my wife would be so PO'ed at me. Quote Link to comment
+Ecylram
I agree. If I had one day to live, caching would not be on my list of things to do. However... Three caches: 1.) Necropolis of Britannia Manor III 2.) DR. Who 3.) Can't think of a third one. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
I'd be too busy running around, pulling my caches and archiving them so I don't leave a mess behind for friends and family to figure out. Quote Link to comment
+the4dirtydogs
I like geocaching but if I only had limited time to live I probably wouldn't spend it geocaching. I would like to do the ISS cache though. Quote Link to comment
+BaylorGrad
I see that apparently I needed to include a definition of the word "hypothetical" in the original post. I think it's a given that a majority of us would have other plans if we had only 24 hours to live. Quote Link to comment
+BCandMsKitty
Well, since you said hypothetically, If I had a month, I'd try for Labyrinth,GC16JDT. Not 3 caches, but it would take all of a month to get it, I bet. Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
I'd be too busy running around, pulling my caches and archiving them so I don't leave a mess behind for friends and family to figure out. Me too. Also - some of my favorite caches are mine - so worth revisiting some of those places before I go. But only if my wife and boys were with me as I'd want to spend the time doing something with them. Quote Link to comment
+cx1
Is there a cache that magically adds 5 years to your life? If so I'd go find that one Quote Link to comment
+Chokecherry
Since I'm going to be on my way out anyways I'd only really want to do one cache: http://coord.info/GCTA5E Quote Link to comment
AZcachemeister
Prob'ly the ISS, Oh! So Blue, and whatever that one is at the undersea hydrothermal vent. I wouldn't worry about my owned caches...just give the wife my log-in code. I'm sure there are folks just itchin' to adopt most of them. Quote Link to comment
+California66er
Easily the ISS cache. Quote Link to comment
+Dog Town
I understand the thought process here....which 3 CACHES ,But in the big picture of things (in a geocaching sense) I would pick one and thoroughly and immensely enjoy the planning of getting the caching crew together, picking a cache, the trip to the cache, all the crazy and hilarious mishaps along the way, coming back home bruised, tired, and totally satisfied from the wonderful experience that is geocaching. Geocaching in and of itself is a pretty silly animal (finding tupperware and signing a piece of paper),To me... it is totally about 'the journey' and all the memories that come with it. +hukilaulau
seven minutes. Is that a record for pulling a thread off topic in the first reply? Probably not. I'm surprised that I seem to be in the minority. With a month to live, geocaching is DEFINITELY what I would be doing. No particular caches. Just a new place. Maybe Australia or New Zealand. Do I have to stop at three, or can I cache til I drop? Quote Link to comment
