Very Cool! Maybe those Texans can swing a little to the North and come to Arlington, Tx and help us clean up Cravens Park and Fish Creek Linear Park Trail on February 26th from 9a-12p. Following the clean up we will have hot dogs and refreshments.

Pathtags to the first 50 participants that register that morning.

Here is the link to the CITO page - http://coord.info/GC2krf6

We are going to be planning some additional CITOs in the fall as well so stay in touch.

Want to help improve our relations with the National Park Service (NPS)? Of course you do!

Help NPS get ready for DC's National Cherry Blossom Festival!

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual two-week event that celebrates springtime in Washington, DC as well as the 1912 gift of the cherry blossom trees and the enduring friendship between the people of the United States and Japan.

Working with the National Park Service, we will be picking up river debris on Hains Point. Hains Point has a number of caches and an Earth Cache!

For details please vist the event cache page at GC2M4QD http://coord.info/GC2M4QD .

Hope to see you there!

Hello everyone!

On the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, ExploreWV had high hopes to begin an annual CITO Service Project that would consist of CITOs scattered through West Virginia each year on September 11th. Due to our busy schedule, we accidently missed the deadline to submit CITOs to Geocaching.com (woops!) but we are still hosting our Service Project with clean-up locations throughout the state if any geocachers are interested in participating.

We have partnered with Volunteer West Virginia and WVREAP to host these clean-ups and together, we have chose seven locations that are in desparate need of sprucing up. Those locations are:

Rich Mountain Battlefield (Randolph County)

N 38° 51.988 W 079° 56.160

Harpers Ferry (Jefferson County)

N 39° 19.390 W 077° 43.817

Tucker County Wind Farm (Tucker County)

N 39° 08.778 W 079° 34.563

Fountain Place Mall (Logan County)

N 37° 51.356 W 082° 02.626

Wine Cellar Park (Kanawha County)

N 38° 22.900 W 081° 43.979

Mt. Wood Park (Wood County)

N 39° 14.952 W 081° 18.441

Grand Vue Park (Marshall County)

N 39° 56.590 W 080° 43.960

Each clean-up project will take place on Sunday, September 11, 2011 and will last from 2:00pm until 4:00pm. Trash bags and gloves have been donated by WVREAP and will be available on-site for all volunteers. Please be cautious and wear proper attire when cleaning up litter.

For more information or to volunteer, please contact Robin Taylor at robin.j.taylor@wv.gov. You may also visit our Facebook website at www.facebook.com/ExploreWV
