There's something missing

In most forums, the member's location is a completely voluntary item.

If you don't want folks to know where you're from, then don't put anything in the "Location" field.

Or put something generic, like "Ontario, Canada".

It's a big piece of helpful info for a lot of questions asked on the forums.

I also assumed that "Location" is simply a check box somewhere in the Admin Control Panel, that can be changed back by checking it off.

Hey Now! This suggestion is now officially "UNDER REVIEW"

What next Mrs B?

World domination?

So it is - excellent!

Elias has it scribbled down on his jotter pad* so I'm happy that it's been noted - That's all I wanted. Hopefully it'll make a come-back at some point.

(As I've said over in t'other place, feel free to remove your votes now and put them to some other worthy Feedback cause.)

MrsB :)

*Sorry, "Logged in the database"... much more professional. ;)

In another thread, I found an answer to my signature query... apparently Basics have been (hopefully temporarily) separated from being able to have the sig line I've had since joining... progress or another minor oops?

Hopefully they will extend the location fix to anything that used to exist that was useful.

I don't really care much, I was simply going to put my location in the sig. Since we don't have forum title access.

I don't know how accurate this is... They did some asking around though and now seem to be PMs.

But I shut off signatures. I won't be able to see them!

I didn't know you could do this. I've just been and added my Helpful Location signature line and now you can't see it. Shucks. <_<

Think it may just be PM accounts. Clicked on the above mentioned link- there was no forum title in my profile, but it did have a space for a forum signature. Still when I wrote in a forum signature- nothing.

Like I said hope it is a temporary thing... but there is always a way to work around it... I've been thinking... dangerous process that... but I'm also doing other things besides.

I'm bumping this topic because I feel it's important to have members locations returned to their forum posts, as they used to appear under the avatars. Ours used to say "Location: SE Wales, UK" It's a useful bit of info to have if your replying to someone's post because the comment or advice you give may be tempered according to their home location.

If you would like to see the Forum Locations re-instated please add comments and vote here, in the Feedback Forum:

There's something missing on the "new style" forums.

It might be enough to nudge them into doing it for the next update...

MrsB (always hopeful)
