+Lil Devil Posted July 16, 2002 Posted July 16, 2002 I recently received a batch of TBs and am getting ready to release them. I've read the numerous stories about bugs going missing. And I've read the suggestions for attaching clear instructions to the bug. But I seen few success stories of bugs that have achieved their goal, and no stories of bug that were released last year and are still travelling actively. I don't care about bugs that have travelled 7,000 miles - that can happen with one airplane ride - but if it has travelled more than 100,000 miles, that would be interesting. And what did you do to bless your TB with such longevity? Instruction manual? (what did it say?) Viagra? Luck? Emails to finders? Lil Devil Quote

+Markwell Posted July 16, 2002 Posted July 16, 2002 Geoffrey made it to his first of two destinations. The Superfriends are alive and well. Scooby and Shaggy (pre-bug travellers) came home after a year and some 3500 miles of random travelling. So far none of my bugs have gone permanently missing except the first iteration of Shaggy and Scooby. They were swallowed by the Chicago River, not taken by ill-informed cachers. Make sure your bugs have added information tags on them. It seems to help immensely. Markwell Chicago Geocachers Quote
The Artful Dodger Posted July 16, 2002 Posted July 16, 2002 I have 4 geomonkeys that are trying to get to New Zealand ... Bayonet Cheeky Gus Shambock The hardest part is getting the little dudes to leave the friggin' country!!! Any country overseas will do for now ~ AAAGH!!!! Frustration reigns supreme! (Sorry! Had to vent! ) Quote
+MissJenn Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 Shrunken Head was released on November 11, 2001 and is still out there, trying to remember what his goal was before they shrunk his head. ( OK - so that is not a full year, as was asked for in the first post, but that's still not bad: 8 months in circulation!) ----- You must be present to win. Quote

+Team Tecmage Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 Hi, Our Moon Man was set loose last October, and went missing for a while. We released him with instructions in a ziplock bag. He wandered around Colorado, disappeared and reappeared in Southern Utah. He reappeared in a travel bag! It's almost time to swap cameras (yep he was released with a camera, and still has it)! It appears that he is in a race to get to Cape Canaverial, FL! Quote

+Web-ling Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 My Texas Spoon Racing Bug achieved its goal of traveling from Texas to England (on its 3rd try). Miss Pumpkin's Bug Friend has now been placed in 20 different caches by 20 different cachers. Quote

Zuckerruebensirup Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 Eensy Weensy Spider is still alive and well, although he's slowed considerably since meeting his first goal. But that's fine, as long as he's staying in circulation. ------- "I may be slow, but at least I'm sweet!" Quote

irvingdog Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 This one completed a very excellent mission, and photo's will be posted soon. This guy on the other hand has nearly 15,000 thousand miles. No info tag, no specific mission, just go cat go. Slow and steady wins the race...... Minnesota Geocaching Association Quote
+Bill D (wwh) Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 This thread has three consecutive posts repeated, complete with same dates and times, starting with The Artful Dodger's post on 16 July 2002 8.38pm. First time round, they're in the right date order, then they reappear after a post on April 1 this year. But still with the original dates and times. Anyone know what's happened there? Bill Quote
+Kite and Hawkeye Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 The Cincy Duck has done well. He's been out there nearly two years! We were lucky enough to help him travel last October. His ID# is 43, so he must be one of the oldest bugs out there. Quote

Blazer2 Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 In May of this year, I released a TB called Br'er Bear, he had a laminated tag attached to him saying he wanted to go on an adventure. For almost a month, he sat, then he started to move, visited three or four caches in the states and then recently spent five weeks in China visiting, arrived back to the states only to go to Germany for a short visit a few weeks later. Right now he is in Houston, waiting to go on another adventure. So far there have been several notes and pictures posted and hopefully it will keep up and he will arrive back home on time. Quote
