+MartyBartfast Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) 1:10 is fine. Poor/mediocre cache won't receive any favours. Caches that are OK may get one or two, but not enough to stand out. Genuinely good caches will get significant numbers of favours, with exceptional caches hitting very high numbers. It's interesting that many of the top scorers in the UK so far are virtuals; the leader appears to be Royal Observatory Greenwich Cache (61), with the leading physical cache being the most visited Last Delivery How did you get that data? Is there a GSAK file already? As the .gpx exports currently don't include the favourite rating GSAK won't be able to do anything with it yet. To find the highest rated just do a search covering the whole country from the "hide and seek a Geocache" page on geocaching.com, then click the header icon on the Favourite column, and it sorts by that rating rather than the default sort. Once you have the results click on the favourite tab and it should then list them with the highest awarded caches first. Edit to add that I hadn't read the second page, therefore had missed seeing MartyBartfast's reply already explaining what to do. Edited December 27, 2010 by Haggis Hunter Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 At the top of any geocache page, over towards the right, is a new box that shows the number of users that have marked that cache as their "Favorite." While this is certainly an interesting number, it is somewhat meaningless until you compare it to the number of users that Found the cache. Lil Devil has a Greasemonkey script! http://www.lildevil.org/greasemonkey/favorites-percentage Quote
+simplysup Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 More difficult though, is when there is a series with no bonus eg UK Megas 1 & 2 The series as a whole was great but the individual caches do not stand out from the crowd.... Yup, I find myself facing that difficulty. Most of my caching is series, and where a series is more rememberable, for whatever reason, I'd like to acknowledge that. Series like the UK Mega, Mega 2, Chiltern Hundreds, all (for me) fall into this category. I'm tempted to fav-place (my preferred verb, I just don't like "favoured"!) the last in such a series, as that's where, usually, the logs are fuller, and aren't c&p'd, so people get a good idea of the series. Hang about.... !! The UK Mega Event caches are not a series. They are individual event caches in their own right. Treat each one on it's own merit. Simples!!" Quote
+currykev Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Almost every series has at least one cache that stands out. As was the case near Dorking yesterday. And it was a micro in the woods too. Quote

It has since occurred to me that the percentage might be slightly skewed, depending on whether the script counts all finders or just premium finders. Quote

Nothing to do with Mega Events. Quote

+Original A1 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 (edited) I wonder how many favourites Dr Solly's been granted! lol I wonder how many he can remember! I somehow doubt that he'll go back through all his found caches, though I remember a lot of yours! Your Mission, Trigonometry, Climate Chaos, the cat one ... Not mine. Must be another Original A1 you're thinking about... EEEK! Edited December 28, 2010 by Original A1 Quote
+ratcliffe Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I agree that this new feature is pretty good. I have just been through my history and allocated my favourite points, and the caches that I have allocated to have generally already been nominated by others. I think as it develops, it will be a very handy feature as to which are "good" caches. Quote
The Hearse Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 How about being allowed to allocate a favourite for every five favourites your caches earn and one favourite for every hundred caches found. Hey hey a great system though, welcome back ye olde good days. Quote
