+georgeandmary
I glued the tag to a disposable camera and I'm going to send it out in a cache this week. Has anyone tried this.. I got the idea from phototag and I think it could turn out nice. I want people to take the camera with them, take a photo and then put it in a different cache. This is similar to a cache camera except the camera gets to travel. I'm going to provide return postage so that when the camera is full all they need to do is drop it in a mail box and I'll get it back. Has anyone tried this? Quote Link to comment
Robereno
Yeah, I tried it. http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=125 One guy took it in December and I haven't heard from it since. 20 years from now, I'm going to get a beat up old camera in the mail. This travel bug thing just hasn't been working for me. Quote Link to comment

soup
Tigger This was a bug with a Digital Camera attached. Its mission was to travel from Washington state to Ground Zero and back. Its making terrific progress. Quote Link to comment

I'm not going to worry if I loose a disposable camera. george Quote Link to comment

+parkrrrr
A question for those of you who have camera TBs: How do you propose to deal with the possible issues raised in this thread? Quote Link to comment

With my camera bug I offer to pay postage or suggest they send the bug in my direction by way of other caches. I also supplied my mailing address and phone number. I don’t mean to present myself as standing in the wings, wringing my hands over what’s happened to the thing. I realized it was an experiment and I was just testing the waters to see what might happen. Like someone else said, never release a travel bug if you seriously expect to see it again. Nothing of the sort really bothers me. I'd probablly send it off to be developed over night at Costco or something similar. If someone wants to take a picture of themselves nekid.. they must be quite confident of themselves. The whole child porn thing seems like such a remote possibliity I don't worry about it. It's right up there with someone booby trapping a cache to explode when I open it. Yeah it could happen by why spend my time worrying about things like this. geroge Quote Link to comment

+Team Teuton
Well, here's a coincidence. I was searching for camera TB's, and this thread from exactly one year ago today came up. I want to do what bigkid did and attach a bug to a disposable camera and a keychain thingy. I'm curious as to how you attach the keychain to the camera. Do you glue the bug tag to the camera with the hole sticking off the side? What kind of glue? If you pretend the Altoids box is a camera, you'll see what I mean. Have any of you thought of other ways to do this? By the way, happy anniversary... I've been going in circles my whole life. May as well make a hobby of it. Quote Link to comment
+nincehelser
...write the TB number and info on the camera? That way if it gets "lost", you could easily start again. George Quote Link to comment
+nikcap
I like that idea a lothttp://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=13590 we did this for a NJ Geocaching picnic last year. The first user to grab it used it exactly like it should, but since October it's sat in a unvisisted cache. It would be great to see this bug get moving. I took a Kodak disposable, cut the TB chain and slipped it through the lanyard hole in the camera. I also placed a small logbook with the camera and slipped the whole thing in a baggie. We lunched it at the picnic took a couple pictures and had everyone sign the log. Initially, I packed a evelope and postage with the camera, but it took up too much room. Quote Link to comment
+brad.32
... and include extended TB instructions with it. People don't seem to get log them without more instruction on the bugs. (When is Groundspeak going to improve the tags?) Quote Link to comment
+Team Teuton
I didn't realise that some of the disposables have lanyard holes, I was assuming I'd have to glue the tag on. That's what I'll do, thanks... I've been going in circles my whole life. May as well make a hobby of it. Quote Link to comment

I have 4 shutterbugs in circulation. I included $5 with each one, two of them had their postage "removed" shortly after being released. I used a disposable camera, bug tag, instruction sheet and a log book. everything is connected together with the bug chain or zip ties and put in a ziplock bag. I have not gotten any back yet, but it has not been that long (3 months) [This message was edited by JaVaJeSuS on March 13, 2003 at 04:01 PM.] Quote Link to comment
