TB that completed its goal. What now?

I had a TB (http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=10880)

that had a goal of getting to a cancer institute in Boston. I had a friend going to Boston so I had them take it with them and deliver it (to the befuddlement of the institute's receptionist).

 

Now that it's out of circulation, how do I note this on the TB tacking page?

I guess if mission is accomplished and TB now out of the game I'd place it in the graveyard to get it out of any active cache/off the inventory of any cacher.

You could always give it a new (related?) goal.

I wouldn't necessarily do that.

I would EDIT the bug's page to note this Boston milestone and give it a new CURRENT GOAL. Perhaps also add a note in the logs so that it acts as a bit of a divider between the old goal and the new goal.

 

(I think that is why the admins have specifically placed the word CURRENT in there: to suggest that some goals come and some goals go.)

Well, the only problem is that I don't have the bug anymore and I don't have its tracking #.

 

So... what now? Am I stuck with it in my inventory?

If it was given to a none cacher and they don't what to do with it (so it want be log in Boston) How will every show it has reached its goal?

Did you try to email the owner? Ask them to take it out of circulation?

 

How long was the TB out there and how far did it travel?

 

In hindsight, you could have email the owner and possibly taken over the ID of the TB and used the tag to create your own.. The owner would have the activation code and you could have taken the TB Tag off, delivered the bug and reused the tag...

I have e-mailed the # for the TB to Joe, here is the addy for the institute, www.dana-faber.org (web-site) perhaps you could contact them and clear up some of the "Befuddelment" as what it is where it's been ,etc. etc. ~~~

I had assumed that this was your own travel bug that you were talking about. It isn't yours? ( Only the owner can change its goals. )

Hey Mzee,

 

A co-worker of mine spent most of last year at dana faber for lukemia. It's an interesting goal for a TB, and I'm glad it made it.

 

BTW, apparently you know my kids grandmother, Team GeoRacing there in Yuma..
