Adding an info card

After reading the various threads about MIA travel bugs and laminated info cards, I have used cards (which I patterned after Markwell’s) for the couple of TB that I have started. Today I picked up a TB that doesn’t have a card just the dog tag. My question is – would it be bad form to add an info card to someone else’s travel bug? icon_rolleyes.gif

I released a travel bug this past Saturday, on what turned out to be the spur of the moment...so I hadn't even typed up the goals yet, let alone put together a nice little instruction card.

A cacher retrieved it yesterday, and mentioned in his log that, without knowing what the goals of the bug were when he picked it up, he decided not to place it in the next cache he logged...which turned out to be good intuition, since its goals happen to be in the opposite direction. In his log, he mentioned that, before placing the bug into a new cache, he'd print out the goals, and put them and the bug into a plastic bag so that other cachers would know immediately upon retrevial what the TB's goals were.

I thought that was very thoughtful. icon_smile.gif (But then, each bug owner is different. Some people may look at the gesture as a insult that they hadn't done their 'job' of releasing the bug correctly.) It never hurts to ask for the owner's input before adding anything to their travel bug.

If someone leaves a bug in my Bug Hotel and the bug is not well documented, I'll try to add both a copy of the bug's Web page and a travel bug info sheet. This usually means putting the bug into a zip lock if it is not already in one. -WR
