State Souvenirs

This whole souvenirs thing is still new to me but I think I understand it. There is a lot of tweeking that needs to be made but it seems like a good concept. Two questions...

 

1) Does anyone know why I have the Groundspeak HQ when I've never been to Washington --- I "earned" this one while searching for caches on the iPhone in NY

 

2) I have four state souvenirs but I've found caches in 12 states. Are they still developing some of the state souvenirs or is this just another glitch?

1a) There's a misfeature in the Groundspeak app that awards souvenirs for simply opening the app and listing nearby caches when you're in an area that would award a souvenir.

 

1b) There's a bug in the Groundspeak app that awards souvenirs based on inaccurate coordinates, and it seems the coordinates default to Groundspeak HQ when the phone can't figure out where it is.

 

2) They're rolling out retroactive state souvenirs slowly, in the order in which the states joined the union. You'll eventually get all 12 souvenirs. Maybe more...

A lot of people have been asking for a list of what souvenirs have been released. I've created a thread in Geocaching Announcements to host the list. I'll update it as we release more souvenirs.

Thanks for posting this. It might be useful to add the release date for each of the souvenirs.

 

Is there a tentative schedule for new "State" souvenirs. It seemed like new ones were being released about once a week but it's been longer than that since CT, MA, and MD were released.

 

Are other categories of souvenirs being worked on (i.e. Countries?).

Is there some sort of travel bug on the Marination Van or something? How do you get that one?
