That sounds a lot like bribery to come check out their cache because it is pretty lame, unless it is a three-day hike into a wilderness area. Wow! I should move there and concentrate on just getting those FTF prizes then I wouldn't have to try to make my SS check stretch so far. Quote

For a new cache I have loaded with nice swag items, the FTF prize will be the certificate and any item in the cache they choose and they do not have to trade for it. I have also given "Where's George dollars" as FTF prizes. Edited November 20, 2010 by junebugdawn Quote

+Ecylram Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Here, most caches don't have a FTF prize. Our last FTF did have a pin as a prize, which was quite nice. Quote
+narcissa Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I think $5 gift cards for Tim Horton's or Canadian Tire, $5 bills, and new geocoins are fairly common around here. Taoiseach makes custom logbook stamps for people who FTF on his trickier caches. Quote
+the4dirtydogs Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 We find money, gift cards, coins, and most of all a nice clean log sheet. I wish people gave out 20's, 50's and 100's. That is so sweet. That is VERY kind of that person to spread the wealth and making FTF hunting more enjoyable. LOVE those FTFs. Quote
+theshows Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I only have 1 FTF with prize, it was a PathTag. I have seen in the description for several caches around that the FTF prize is a pathtag. Many new caches here have been too small for a prize. Quote
+Setan Meyacha Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 If you don't mind mailing out the FTF prize even a nano size cache can have a FTF prize go with it. I have done a few micro caches with a FTF prize and mailed it to the person who claimed the FTF. Although I have included some prizes that had a value of 30 or 40 dollars, I never use cash as an incentive to find my caches. You can either look for them or not. Quote

The problem with this is EVERYONE wants to be FTF so it's hard to be first. Please do your homework. First, as already mentioned it's one cacher not the "community. Second, here's a quote from the FTF on one of those caches: FTF, Made the trip for this one after lunch. We were hoping for the cash reward only to receive a fake. Left a nickle and took the twenty. +Kbrunog Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Where I cache, we have abundant quality. Most caches even hid by newbies are quality. I personally believe that matchstick container were meant to hold money. My FTF prize consists of a $20 bill with the stipulation that you have to replace it with half the value, or you make no trade. This had gone over quite well. It is named FTF Halflife by Kbrunog® The other thing I like to do it take about 10 or 12 gift cards, usually Tim Horton's and put a bunch of duds and other with varying amounts in the cache. The finder is allowed to take one card. This one is called FTF Roulette by Kbrunog® Most of my caches are puzzle caches so you have to jump through my hoops to get the $$. I personally hate swag, and think that if I put out a micro it should contain something, cache fits real good. Even with the crazy FTF prizes I extract way more pleasure per dollar spent than any other activity that I ever participated in. Quote
+d+n.s Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I've yet to FTF, but my cache ha one of those "First to Find!" Geocoins in it for the FTF (which was oddly found by a co-worker whom I never told the location of the cache. It happened to be his first FTF too. Weird stuff.) As with Christmas, I think I would be a little bummed to find cash for some reason. I haven't noticed a trend for that or any other swag here, but I rarely see it mentioned in cache descriptions. Pocketed $5 and bought another one of the same $5 game and won $50! I've left winning tickets for modest amounts ($2 or $5) but the last thing I want to do is put a lottery ticket in the cache and see someone on the news later that week with a big smile on his face announcing that he "found the 20 million dollar winning ticket in a geocache".
