Podgod
Hi, I'm quite new to the world of GPS and geocaching so I appoligise if this question has been answered elsewhere and I have have just not been looking hard enough. I have a Garmin etrex H and I have managed to work out how to download my data on to Google Earth so I can see where I've been, I'm quite happy with this. What I would like to know if there is there any software available that will allow me to plan a route, on a map, and then upload it to my GPS to save me from having to do this manually. Thanks Brad Quote Link to comment

Garmin MapSource will allow you to do this. You create the route in MapSource and then upload the route into your GPS unit. Your particular unit can hold up to 20 different routes. Podgod
Thanks for the prompt reply. So the Garmin Mapsource TOPO Scotland disc would do for me living in the Highlands. That fact that it comes on a micro SD card will it still let me install it on to my PC with the correct card reader? Quote Link to comment
+New Jersey TJ
Take a look at the Track Maker at GPSIES (HERE). I use it to create tracks in areas that you can't on geocaching.com, such as along rail beds that have been converted to bike trails. I keep the points close together and then generate a PQ along a route. Quote Link to comment

Probably not the case. More informed will chimed in, but I think the software is locked to the SD card. Quote Link to comment
savant9
Using Garmin Basecamp , SD card maps are useable on the PC for routes, etc Quote Link to comment

It takes an "X" model for that. Quote Link to comment
+Redwoods Mtn Biker
No, but he should be able to upload routes. I think savant9 is right -- Basecamp should work. Quote Link to comment
