+PeakFault
We all know there will be tons of memorabilia for Prince Williams wedding, like mugs, plates and probably a £5 coin! So why not get some coins that are actually useful (cos no-one ever uses those £5coins!!) Anyone for a William and Kate Geocoin? Edited November 16, 2010 by TheGoodNorth Quote Link to comment

Who knows, if the happy couple were to receive a coin and take up geocaching as a result, perhaps we could see the ban on caching in the Royal Parks overturned? Quote Link to comment

Better make the coin in two parts so it can be separated at a later date. Just in case ..... When I heard DC announce yesterday that it was a "great day for the country" I thought he'd solved the financial crisis without us all having to resort to living in cardboard boxes. But no, just another wedding for us all to pay for. Quote Link to comment
+nevryan
Of course they could already be cachers, in which case anyone care to guess who would be the most likely candadates. Quote Link to comment

That apology isn't grovelling enough. You tricked this poor person into reading your thread when clearly he has no interest in the wedding. I think you cunningly titled it 'Royal Wedding Geocoin' so that people would have no idea what it was about....... Quote Link to comment

+The Blorenges
Several of the Charles & Di commemorative coins got made into TBs (some of which had a longer life than the marriage). Here's one... Charles & Di on tour. Later that same century... there was another "royal opportunity" Chas and Millie's honeymoon Roll on the next generation. MrsB Quote Link to comment
+currykev
I actually think it's a good idea. You should get plenty of takers..especially from across the Pond. A perfect souvenir for those that care. Quote Link to comment
+The Chaos Crew
You should get plenty of takers..especially from across the Pond. a friend of mine from the States just emailed me to say that the media over there is going BONKERS about the engagement. I think you're right that they possibly care more about it "over there" than we do over here! Quote Link to comment

+MartyBartfast
Noooooooo I'm already sick of hearing about it, and by the time it happens it'll be unbearable. The last thing I want is to be reminded about it by finding a coin in a cache. Quote Link to comment
+Jacaru & Wemnog
Who's been reading my mind? I actually thought about this late yesterday afternoon, and it is now on my coin to do list. As currykev says, there are bound to be lots of takers stateside. Quote Link to comment
+Dorsetgal & GeoDog
I have nothing against the happy couple, best of luck to them. Although I love coins, this would have to be really special to avoid being tacky, so would be unlikely to buy. Didn't know either of them were geocachers ... and in the light of Grandmas people deciding no caching in the parks, isn't it a bit left field? Quote Link to comment
+*mouse*
A royal coin would be like marmite - people will either love them or hate them. And Dorset Gal is right - it would be easy for something like this to look incrediby tacky. Personally it's not for me - like many others I will be doing my best to avoid an media coverage of this which is bound to be excessive. I wish them well like I would any young couple, but I don't want it all rammed down my throat for the next 6 months. Anyone up for an event on a remote island somewhere on the day of the wedding?? +Lovejoy and Tinker
Do you have to get permission to produce a souvenir of such an event? Or are unofficial souvenirs allowed without permission? Oh dear. I've just written the word souvenir haven't I. And that has given me a terrible terrible thought about what Groundspeak may do for a certain period of time in the London area next Summer. Quote Link to comment

And he said something along the lines of "everyone was banging on the cabinet table" - sounds an excessive reaction to an engagement in my opinion. Animals. +Brian~!
Perhaps seeing as it's Mega Wales at some point and William will be the next Prince of Wales (heck, his army helmet read "Wales" rather than "Windsor"), perhaps a run of coins could be made to commemorate the event and generate funds for the mega at the same time? Regardless, I'll want a coin! Quote Link to comment
+goldpot
...there be a mega event at Westminster Abbey on May 19th. Quote Link to comment
+Lime Candy
I'd definitely be interested in a special Royal Wedding Geocoin. Cheapskates won't need to buy the new coin, they can just use an old coin that belonged to their mother. Quote Link to comment
