Really? I see it as a spin off from a thread that got locked.

I have not seen any Krispy Kreme caches cited.

And you're offended by that? ;):D:P

Actually, you totally missed the point of the thread which, by the way, was started long before the other thread was locked. The thread is NOT about Krispy Kreme. You'll have to figure out the rest on your own.

However, if it helps you, there are lots of KK caches in virtually every city that has KK's. Do a search - you'll find lots.

I know what it is about. Not caching. I may be a right wing nut job but I am not an idiot. I read the other thread. I may have even responded in it. Both that one and this one were amusing for a short time. Now they are way way off topic for this forum.

Oh yeah, this thread was started about 4-5 hours before that one got locked down. Not exactly a "long time".

You may resume your regularly scheduled banter.

Who thinks a cache in the parking lot of a Krispy Kreme store is appropriate ?

I think that it is a bit tacky.

With the soaring rate of heart disease and childhood obesity, isn't it obscene to attract people to cache at donut shops? Makes adult book stores seem tame by comparison... ;)

:mad::D:P:P

I've been to many events, and noticed a strong correlation between "park & grab" cachers, and obesity. Perhaps a cache next to a Krispy Kreme is necessary fuel for them?

Worm Hole Alert! Worm Hole Alert! A thread about caches in the adult bookstore parking lot morphed into a satirical thread about Krispy Kremes. Can we learn how to read or get back on topic of sticky film canisters in the adult bookstore parking lot?

;):D

I'm blown away (no pun intended) on how bent out people on these forums are regarding adult stores. Seriously? I live in a state (yes a STATE in the USA)where brothels are legal :P . We even have caches near 'em. Read the logs, no one seems offended. Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty is one example, there used to be one outside of Fallon called Gymnastics...or something like it. I think it's since been archived, the story behind it was hilarious. I'll have to find my old log.

Geesh people, lighten up!

You also live in a state that has that trail of caches every tenth of a mile that people make those huge number runs on. Hardly a model for the rest of the country to emulate.

Come to think of it, it's also the only state which has been bombed with nuclear weapons by the US Government. Coincidence? I think not!

That would be southern Nevada....on both accounts. We don't claim them. ;)

There's an offset cache in a Krispy Kreme parking lot near here. Actually, it's closer to the Costco than to the Krispy Kreme, but it's the same parking lot. Anyway, the first stage is a memorial plaque set into a small landscaped area in the parking lot. Why a memorial plaque in a parking lot? Who knows. But now there's a cache for the memorial plaque.

(Just doing my part to keep the thread on topic...)

I guess the events on July 16, 1944 in Jornada del Muerto don't count.

Our Krispy Kreme went under about 3 years ago, and if memory serves, there was a cache there!....hrrmmm, find a cache in a Krispy Kreme/WallyWorld/7-11 parking lot or behind a Bunny Ranch sign....you know...the one you've always wanted to stop at for a photo op but had no other reason to until you started caching? At least you'll remember the ranch cache! ;)

So there are actual Krispy stand alone stores. UP here in the boonies if you want a krispy you drive to the 7/11 and get one...

Haven't seen an actual donut shop since living across from a Timmy's in Canada.

Yeah, they are way tooo sweet! bleh! I wish Timmy's would invade the US. Wendy's owns them, why don't we have them??? There is a cache near the one in Prince Albert, SK! lol! ....staying on topic!

Quite frankly, I find the tone of your comments much more frightening than the many syringes I've encountered in alleys and parks since I became a geocacher. I can report a syringe to the health unit and get it cleaned up. Insidious bigotry is much harder to eradicate.

Yes. You have demonstrated that. But rose-colored glasses won't protect you.

Please remember that the Groundspeak forums are Family Friendly and post accordingly.

Posting about used condoms (and their contents) and such is not in keeping with that.

And porn stores, with illicit activity in the parking lot, is family friendly? How about naming the cache "Don't Stick It in There wthout Protection"? (Or something very similar.) And mentioning "Adults will understand the cache name, when they visit the location."

Yes, we all know that such places exist. But, once, the world had a sense of common decency. We didn't talk about those things in public. (We laughed at them, but we didn't mention them.) Now, we pander to the least common denominator. And, anything goes. Very sad to see that in a site that claims to be 'family friendly'. Everybody into the gutter!

Wendy's owns Tim Hortons? I thought they were traded on the stock exchange.

According to their annual report they have 563 locations in the US. I think there are a lot in the midwest.

Wendy's owned them at one time, not sure if they still do? Anyhoo, none in the west ;) I'm not a big fan of donuts but Timbits are my weakness!

You're right, it is kind of a stupid thread, it just fries me on how overly sensitive and politically correct most of our country has become. Before the flame throwers come out...no, I am not condoning public displays.

Please define "common decency". ;)

[soapbox]

What is considered "decent" by some can be considered "obscene" by others. Who is right?

For example: In the USA nudity, brothels, "adult stores" and anything construed as having sexual connotations is considered by the majority as being "indecent". Yet gory, extreme violence on TV, in movies or video games is considered quite acceptable. I travel back and forth to northern Europe on a regular basis. In those places, nudity and other sexually themed topics/business are quite socially acceptable. You'd be hard pressed to find a women's deodorant ad on TV that didn't include nudity. There is even a gift shop in the Copenhagen airport that openly sells sex toys! And I won't even get into the German 900-number ads on TV. :D However violence, even what you may consider as relatively tame, is regulated and often censored. Who is right? Who is the lowest common denominator?

Regardless of what you or I believe to be socially acceptable or obscene, does it give us the right to judge others for their personal moral code vis-à-vis their cache placements? Really, if a cache placement is offensive to your moral or ethical code, don't go there! If you do get there and find it to be offensive then leave! But don't poop on someone else's cache just because it violates your code of behaviour. Others will most definitely enjoy finding it.

Most of what's wrong in this world is rooted in people or groups trying to impose their culture, morality or belief systems on others who live by a different set of standards. The world would be a much better and safer place if we all learned to live and let live. :P

Refusing to talk about "those things," shaming people, and otherwise acting hatefully toward others is NOT common decency.

Wow, I am amazed at how worked up and negative people are in a forum....

Maybe good judgement comes into play here......If the cache location offends you, DON"T DO IT!

I'm pretty sure that there isn't a law that says you HAVE to get every cache.

I decide everytime I cache what caches I want to do.

Geocaching is supposed to be fun......And I will always keep it that way for me.

Ok, I'm off my soapbox! ;)

I know a lady in Ogden that says the same thing. :)
