zedex
Is it possible to plug my 60 into my laptop with mapsource and see your location via the gps on the laptop screen in real time? Thanks Quote Link to comment
+ecanderson
Only if you've got a really old copy of MapSource. It used to be able to pull the NMEA directly off a Garmin that supported that output, but no longer does. There's other mapping software out there that will do it -- mostly for a price, though. +DonB
Streets & Trips will do it, but you need the data cable. I Think I read somewhere that S&T 2010 will also give you turn by turn voice routing. Quote Link to comment
+Redwoods Mtn Biker
Garmin nRoute used to be able to do it, but I don't know if there are now Map Source compatibility issues: http://www8.garmin.com/support/agree.jsp?id=575 Quote Link to comment

+ecanderson
Garmin nRoute used to be able to do it, but I don't know if there are now Map Source compatibility issues: MapSource no longer has the old "GPS" tab on it that was being used to do realtime NMEA. My last recollection of realtime mapping was back at version 4.X of that product. It used to look like this: http://gpsinformation.org/dale/mapsource.htm#overview Quote Link to comment
+kwcahart
There is another way to do it also. If you have Delorme Street Atlas on your computer, you can buy a very economical GPS antenna from Delorme, the LTS-20. Plug this in a USB port, double click on Delorme Street Atlas, and turn on the GPS, (start/stop button) on Street Atlas tool bar and you will be live GPS and it will map where you are, moving or not. I can see which side of the interstate I'm on with mine. You can get a copy of Delorme Street Atlas real cheap if you go back a year or so, and the new one is less than $50. You can get the LTS-20 on eBay, just make sure it is one with the USB cable. Edited November 17, 2010 by kwhart Quote Link to comment
