I dropped off a geocoin today, but I'm unable to log it online. I've tried 3 times, posting a log for the cache ( http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?wp=GC1GHDT ), selecting "Dropped Off" from the little menu next to the coin, and clicking on Submit Log Entry. But the coin ( http://coord.info/TB39C8Y ) is still in my inventory.

 

I'm using Safari 3.0.4 on an iMac. Before the recent upgrade, I've had no trouble logging trackables.

 

P.S.: While typing this log, the "Insert Link" and other buttons aren't working for me.

Hi,

 

since the update, the maps site is broken in regards, that after some time, suddenly all found caches are shown as unfound.

 

It's quite easy to reproduce:

 

- Go to the maps site with your home coordinates as start point

- Hide all found and your own caches by selecting the check boxes

- zoom out 2-3 levels, move around

- click on the "hand" in the left top circle ("back to last result")

 

Now all caches are shown as unfound. There are quite some more ways to get this effect, but this is the most reliable way to reproduce.

 

I'm having this problem also with both Firefox and Chrome. It's happened many times. Really all you have to do is wait for an as yet undetermined period of time (although it's probably less than 30 minutes) and when you move the map again it will refresh will all caches appearing as if none have been found.

Add Safari to the list.. and it doesn't take 2 hours to happen.. probably 15 minutes or less...

Haven't been able to upload photos to my owned cache pages since the last update. Saw this mentioned as an initial problem but is there no resolution yet? .jpg files, Safari.. nothing has changed from my end.

We haven't been able to upload photos to any cache page. Really frustrated because some caches (virtuals, earthcaches) require posting a pic and we can't do that! Any suggestions????

myfriends page not displaying or functioning correctly in SeaMonkey.

 

I am using SeaMonkey 1.1.18 on Windows XP Pro SP3. On the "Your Friends" page, "Member Since:", "Last Online:", etc. do not display. The numbers do, but not the captions.

 

Secondly, in this older version of SeaMonkey, my friends' usernames appear, but the link to their profiles cannot be clicked.

The suggestion from the Lilypad and from other members is to resize photos prior to uploading. I believe the size suggested is 600 x 450...but could be wrong on those numbers. However - this didn't work for me, but I am sure it was something I did as others are managing. I suppose the "problem" is that the site no longer resizes photos as it used to. The last time I tried, it did state that the site resizes photos. In the Feedback section where this was addressed, the other suggestion was to use Picnik or Picasa for resizing.

Nothing has changed from my end either, and I agree with you - it is frustrating as far as those earthcaches and virtuals go.

I can not generate "my finds PQ" every 3 days. Only every 7.

 

Thanks for the note about 7 days but I think you misunderstood what I wrote. Prior to attempting to run a my finds PQ, it had been months since I ran one yet every time I tried, it would say it was scheduled but then my request would disappear and it never actually ran. Its been three weeks now and I still can't get even one to run.

 

Is there a problem with the my finds pocket query function? If its just me I will email Groundspeak directly.

Hi NVGreenGecko,

 

Your last My Finds query had a last generated time of midnight, which is an indication that the system ran into errors generating it the last time it was tried. I just rest it and it looks like it generated properly. Please let me know if you continue to have problems with it.

 

Regarding problems people are reporting with photo upload, that appears to only be happening to a small number of accounts. If you have an error, could you please indicate the size of the photo you are trying to upload (pixel dimensions as well as file size), the file type (e.g. .jpg, .png, etc.) and the browser you are using.

Hi Moun10Bike - image I had problems with with was 1600x1200, jpeg, 494kb. I tried with both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Back in October, around the time of the update then, one went through with no resizing, but my next one within 5 minutes kept giving me the "500" error. I kept trying...but no luck. I tried again after the November update, but I am not having any joy. I was spoiled before with having the site resize for me - I am struggling to learn a new skill here......

I even tried to upload something smaller than the 1600x1200, but must have done something wrong with my resizing efforts, I guess! Permission is granted to laugh at me :anitongue:

I will have to try again....but all these failures is a bit disheartening, to say the least ;)

Ok, I am having problems with running my pocket querie for My Finds. Even though we can run them every three days now, it still stays on the download page for six. That's not really a problem, however it doesn't pull the new total. It pulls the old total from when I ran it the other day. When I have logged 1505 caches, the pocket querie for my find only pulls 1486. Now that I have logged 1525 caches it only pulls 1505 caches that I have found. I am not for sure if anyone else is having this problem, but this is what I am running into at the moment.

 

This last time, I waited until the previous pocket querie was gone before I ran it again. But that didn't help either.

Dittos, having the same problem.

 

Outside of the site being offline for or unresponsive for extended periods of time.

 

I'm just curious but you guys do develop updates on an offline server first and then test them before migrating to the live server, right? From what I see your development process could use some serious upgrading since you tend to break more than you fix with each upgrade. Just a thought but it would sure eliminate the heartburn after the fact on every one's part.

I just ran a My Finds Query, it sent me the email that it was now reay to download from the Geocaching site but never showed up. I ran it on Dec 15, 2010 @ 18:06:03. It has been over an hour and still no sign of it anywhere. I do show where one of my other pocket query's ran yesterday and is showing up for download.

I'm also having issues with the MyFinds PQ. I generated one from today, downloaded it and unzipped it. Inside the .ZIP file, the .GPX file has a timestamp of 12/10/2010 (today is 12/15/2010!) and indeed, the XML shows this:

This is also happening to route PQ's.

 

Same for me. I downloaded four queries on 12-15, three of which were fine. The fourth was a route-based query and only contained logs up to 12-08. :P

Someone must be listening as I just got the My Finds Query email about half an hour ago and the PQ is now there to download.

I've looked a lot of places to see if I can find an official statement by Groundspeak as to just what the enhancements were. Still looking. So far after 24+ hours of the site being back up, I dont see ANYTHING has changed. Please GS, share some information with us.

I guess there is no statement because nothing has changed in the software realm. What has changed is they got some new hamsters. Elias has stated here and other places the change was to the infrastructure, i.e., the computers and other hardware.

3 seperat issues since update.

 

1- c:geo is not able to connect to log a cache.

2- txtmarks is not able to submit fieldnotes...

3- MyFinds PQ does not show up as downloadable, though it has been ran.

A comment on the forum update, since we cannot reply to the announcement: In my opinion, it is too wide. The table of contents page for the forums is not so bad, but once inside, I have to horizontal scroll about 1/3 the width of my browser window. If I go full screen, it is too wide to read comfortably.

 

Heck, if I drag the window so that I can see this whole text box, it is too wide to read comfortably.

The table of contents page for the forums is not so bad, but once inside, I have to horizontal scroll about 1/3 the width of my browser window. If I go full screen, it is too wide to read comfortably.

 

Heck, if I drag the window so that I can see this whole text box, it is too wide to read comfortably.

 

The site is designed to be variable width, so you can change the width to whatever you like. If this isn't happening, let us know what browser you are using. Thanks!

quite the opposite for me, i would like the front page to be a little wider but the width inside the threads is fine, fits perfectly in my screen, i use 1280x1024 and i have a regular 19" screen, what resolution you use?
