Guest WM5L
I found a Travel Bug last week 1near my home in Burleson,Tx (1-27-02 sun)I have since looked for a place to put it back into circulation. The problem it that all of the caches I find are too small. The TB is attached to a star trek figure about 8" tall and there is no way to place him in these tiny little caches i'm finding. Is it conisered bad taste to put him in one of MY LARGE caches just so I can keep it moving? I was also wandering why do people make thier caches so small? Ammo cans are cheaper than 6" tupperware "bowls". There is no reason it has to be "tiny" is there...WM5L & N5CLC Quote Link to comment
Guest Markwell
You can put a Travel Bug in ANY cache to move it along. Many people have even started them in their own caches. Just out of curiosity, is this "Locutus of Borg"? They've been looking for him in Texas. If it is a bald-robot guy, you need to log his page and let them know you have him. ------------------ Markwell My GPS Activity Page Non omnes vagi perditi sunt Quote Link to comment
Guest Ttepee
I have suggested, with some of my larger bugs ,for people to put them in a ziplock and place them on top of or next to the cache. Quote Link to comment
Guest T-storm
Hi there! It's certainly fine to drop a bug off in one of your own caches. One caveat is to try to pick a cache in line with the bug's goals or lacking guidance there pick one with a high likelihood of having visitors that will help it along its way. I see that you have one cache listed for your ID. It's in an interesting place that I'd like to visit, but I see that the other cache in that location has been found just 5 times in 6 months. Just fine for a cache, but not so great for a bug unless it helps meet the bug's specific goals. There are several caches around the greater D/FW area with ammo box containers or other large sized boxes. For instance, we use ammo boxes. Some examples from my list of hidden/found caches: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=8555 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=10871 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=10405 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=10893 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=10016 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=5739 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=9103 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=8853 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=7213 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=8460 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=8689 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=3979 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=5165 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=4480 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=874 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=12549 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=8022 Hope that helps! Guest glenn95630
Careful... The new borgs have been known to wear disguises. Check for a fake beard and wig. On the other hand, I wouldn't put it past Riker to wear an 'implant' so it may be hard to tell the real Riker from a borg... Quote Link to comment
Guest web-ling
Commander Riker is my TB. Feel free to place him in any cache he'll fit into, including yours or one of mine. One reason some cache containers are small is because of where they are hidden. In the post-September 11 world, cachers need to be careful where we leave ammo cans. Also, some caches in high-traffic areas need to be small so they will remain hidden. Web-ling Quote Link to comment
Guest spiny norman
This brings up an interesting point. It would be very helpful to know what size a container is before setting out to hide a TB in it. I think I will go back an edit my cache pages with that info. Quote Link to comment
Guest threelanes
I just posted this overdue log to the Locutus of Borg cache page: Let me add some knowledge to the collective: Marilyn of Threelanes picked up Locutus on 1/16/02 from Glorius Lagoon. We realized that the log book was not retreived so went back on 1/17/02 but didn't find it. 1/18/02 email to previous holder indicated the log book has been lost. 1/19/02 email to Locutus creator was unanswered about replacing logbook. Decided to hold for up coming trip to Phoenix. 1/29/02 placed Locutus in cache GC2922. Also on 1/29/02, received inquiry from creator on status. Assimilation complete............
