ThomasFamily102
So I have a cache that is active as of right now. I believe tho it is an undetermined size in the area. Our plan is to archive the current cache and make a new cache possibly a large. How long after we archive the current cache can we make the new cache? Is there a waiting period we have to do? GOF and Bacall
Once a cache is archived the site is available for the immediate placement of a new cache. No need to wait. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
If you own cache "A" and then decide that cache "B" is a better for the same immediate area due to cache concept, container, hiding spot, etc., then the answer depends on the publication date of cache "A." Please see the "Cache Permanence" guideline, which provides in relevant part: When you report a cache on the Geocaching.com web site, geocachers should (and will) expect the cache to be there for a realistic and extended period of time. Therefore, caches that have the goal to move ("traveling caches"), or temporary caches (caches hidden for less than 3 months or for events) most likely will not be published. If you hid Cache A on September 1st, your reviewer may not be willing to publish Cache B until December 1st or later. Quote Link to comment
GOF and Bacall
I would think that why the cache was being archived would also figure into the decision. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
It does. You can find direct support for that in the portion of the guideline text that isn't quoted. A land manager request to archive and relocate? No problem. Changed your mind because you thought of something better? The Cache Permanence guideline encourages you to plan betterer. Probably a good idea or I'd be mourning the loss of an ammo can. Quote Link to comment

No need to wait. which means someone else can swoop in and hide a cache and steal the spot. its best to have a container in place and the new page ready to activate before archiving the cache.
