srqhunter Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Found a Survey Mark, just kinda stumble across it in Don Pedro state park on Little Gaspirilla Island... # 01 82 A24. Not quite sure where to log it or find it... Took picture. Can anyone tell us how to log it? Quote
Okie'sKid Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Since the marking you give isn't in the format of a PID, yer find is probably some PLS's survey pin. You can "WayMark" it. Quote
ArtMan Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 You might try browsing the map on Scaredycat's site. I didn't see anything that looked promising to me, but I might not be looking in the right place. ArtMan Quote
jbuffethed Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Is it possibly this. Looks like this guy possibly found the same one, but he found 01 92 A24 . http://www.geocaching.com/mark/details.aspx?PID=AG1207 Quote

It looks like it's in the same vicinity, but the number on the one I found is 01 82 A24.... Quote
srqhunter Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Do you have a picture of it? How about the coordinates of it? Is it a benchmark disc? Yes I took a picture of it w my phone... not sure how to upload it here though.... And I was so excited about finding it I didn't think about checking the coordinates... Quote

Wintertime Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Since the marking you give isn't in the format of a PID, yer find is probably some PLS's survey pin. You can "WayMark" it. PIDs are not markings. They're six-character IDs (two letters and four numbers) assigned by the NGS when a mark is accepted for NGS's database. The actual markings on the disk will be stated in the NGS datasehet. (Or whatever other documentation is available if the mark isn't in the NGS database.) Patty Quote
