Geocaching in Samoa

Recommended Posts

I'm heading to the Pacific island nation of Samoa in a few weeks. There is a virtual located on the main island of Upolo - yay for us.

It got me thinking about how I could 'encourage' the locals to create or look after new ones.

I'm staying at a small resort on the larger island of Savi'i. I was thinking of making contact with the resort manager/owner and asking them if they would be interested in maintaining a geocache at the resort - the resort is open to the public.

In return, I was thinking of leaving them with an eTrex yellow so that it might spur them on to create new geocaches - if they were inclined.

I'm interested in hearing from Groundspeak reviewers on their thoughts about this, especially those that approve Pacific Island geocaches.

If both parties (resort and Groundspeak) agree, I'd be willing to write it up for the Latitude 43 blog.
