Mega Events

Not wishing to upset anyone, because I am probable wrong but has there ever been a Mega event in the south east because looking around there appears not of been. Most (not all) appear to be in Wales, Scotland or Northern England. If I am right why not?

Theres only been 3 so far.

Harrogate, Weston super mere and Scotland.

2011 will be in Wales.

You're correct. There's going to be one in the SE on Sunday July 22nd 2012 though. Hope to see you there

Looks like there may be a choice of Mega Events in 2012.

 

There's one in the North West and if Piratemania keeps growing the way it does it might achieve retroactive mega status

In answer to the OP's question, it was suggested a few years back that maybe the UK ought to try for a Mega event, the idea grew and a group of cachers in Yorkshire were brave foolish enough to create a committee and the first UK mega was born.

 

 

A mega takes an aweful lot of work and it is down to cachers getting together and putting in the hard work for the following year's event. So far we have had Harrogate 2008, Weston Super Mare 2009 and in 2010 Perth. Next year it is in South Wales, for 2012 there are plans for two Mega's taking shape, one in the North West and the other in the South East.

That's actually been out there since August last year! The current development team (Dorsetgirl, Metal Bijou, Drsolly and myself) are hoping to meet after a London Flashmob on the 13th of November to finalise some other details. The website will be launched soon afterwards. I'm currently tweaking the format so it loads quickly and looks fine on smartphones; by 2012 they'll be everywhere
